"For the SEC to say they can break off and do their own thing, that'd be pretty entertaining. Because every team is pretty damn good, whereas the Big Ten, you're kind of a top-heavy league with nothing in the middle or bottom." Could the SEC REALLY break away? @GregMcElroy and @MattBarrie discuss the potential ⬇️

@BradPowers7 No other network even bid on the 12 team playoff at all… and first round game numbers are atroxious. Where does everyone think this giant windfall is going to come from when selling even worse games to the market?!

@BradPowers7 Plus at 12 they will get 5-7 teams and at 16 they will get 6-8 teams given the SEC schedule bias where preseason rankings impact the strength of schedule like Florida/LSU/Missouri last year.

@Genetics56 Not even close. Employment laws in general. FICA, health care rules for employees, scholarship is taxable for employee, food and other benefits are taxable. Public schools are worse off. Union and labor laws. NCAA looked at this mess years before the House settlement. A mess!

Big Ten information and news
Inside intel - why do many people in the Big Ten do not want athletes to become employees? The answer has two words: Workmans comp I'll elaborate on this tomorrow.

@JoshPateCFB @_willcompton @espn It is so funny how these SEC and ESPN homers are interested in sports when the SEC is winning. They talk metrics and depth of conference in other sports…..idiots Complete unadulterated idiots

@MaxBrowne4 By this rationale, we should never arrest someone for DUI so as to avoid someone not going to AA? Your opini defies logic.

My thoughts on Brendan Sorsby… There’s no way he’s the only player struggling with gambling. I get it. The NCAA has to protect the integrity of the game. But this decision creates an unintended consequence. It tells every athlete dealing with a gambling problem to stay quiet. With more money in players’ pockets and sports betting more accessible than ever, gambling addiction isn’t going away. The real question is whether athletes feel safe asking for help before it costs them their career…or more. My fear is that 5-10 years from now, we’ll hear stories from former athletes who never got help until it was too late. What do we think?

@JoshPateCFB Sankey and ESPN’s mouthpiece. He will say whatever they tell him. He is not a CFB analyst but a SEC/ESPN clown with profound bias.

The idea that playing for seeding will carry the same urgency as playing for survival is one of the dumbest aspects of CFP expansion arguments

@PeterBurnsESPN I quickly looked at Texas, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee schedules and they all play FCS teams on ESPN—— wow, Dick I mean Peter of ESPN, not a single mention. You never said ANYTHING when SEC only played 8 conference games. Your bias and holding the company line are consistent

This is one of the hazards of taking the increased tv money. Sometimes you won’t like the kickoff times, especially if you aren’t of the conferences premier teams in that year.

@johnrobertsFox @60Minutes Correct. But that was when journalism was a profession rather than now where it is essentially political activism for the DNC.

I recall a time when a correspondent position at @60Minutes was like a Supreme Court appointment. A job for life. You went out when they carried you out. Those days are long gone...
Dylan Byers@DylanByers

NEW: Sharyn Alfonsi goes scorched earth on Bari Weiss: "Over the weekend, my contract with CBS News expired, drawing to a close nearly twenty years with the network, including more than a decade at 60 Minutes. Following an intense editorial dispute over our CECOT story, repeated attempts by my representation to establish a path forward were met with absolute silence from network executives. The message could not be clearer: my time at 60 Minutes is apparently over. In the coming days, network leadership may attempt to hide behind corporate euphemisms like "modernization" and “restructuring” to explain away my departure. Don't be misled. This was not a routine corporate transition; it was a deliberate choice to penalize a journalist for refusing to sanitize factually accurate reporting, and it sends a chilling message to the entire newsroom. Fearless, independent reporting has always been the defining standard at 60 Minutes. Today, CBS management is abandoning that mission, choosing access journalism over accountability and protecting power rather than scrutinizing it. The wall between editorial independence and corporate interest at CBS is being methodically torn down. Journalists willing to challenge authority are being pushed aside in favor of those who will not. If this continues, the result will be a broadcast that looks like 60 Minutes but lacks the courage and character to produce journalism that matters. To my colleagues, who became family - working beside you has been the privilege of a lifetime. You are second to none. I’ve learned exactly what it costs to hold the line right now. Hold it anyway. Viewers and the people who trust us with their stories deserve nothing less." Backstory: - January: puck.news/inside-bari-we… - April: puck.news/bari-weiss-pla… - May: puck.news/sharyn-alfonsi…

The other part that irks SEC coaches is the requirement to play a Power Four non-conference opponent in addition to the nine league games when some teams in other conferences don’t play a marquee non-conference game.
Brett McMurphy@Brett_McMurphy

NEW: SEC coaches say they were "misled" about 9-game league schedule. They were told playoff would expand to 16 teams if they agreed. It didn’t 👀 "They felt misled," Florida's Jon Sumrall said. The latest from SEC spring meetings on3.com/news/sec-coach…
