We've discussed this B4. Nettles was a fine player but his numbers don't quite add up. My rule: always go to baseballreference.com & research the 10 most similar players ever. Only TWO of the 10 who compare with Nettles are in the HOF - BOTH put in by the bogus vets committees!

The Yankees beat themselves way too much. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this type of play from a talented team like this. They do everything they can to help the other team out and don’t stop it. They just keep coming up with new ways to do it.

The Yankees don’t have Weaver. Lowe is waiting on their bench. Fried is pitching his ass off. He’s only at 97 pitches. You need to win this game. So the manager turns to Mark Leiter Jr. despite being reluctant to use him in similar spots. I don’t get it at all.

I can begrudgingly accept when the Yankees get beaten by another team. I can’t accept when the team beats itself all season and then makes up ways to defend or excuse it. I’m a nobody, so my feelings don’t influence anything, but it leads to a very frustrating fan experience.

The thing is he’s right. They are more than talented enough. They have a very good roster even with the injuries. But your question is spot on. What are they doing to fix stuff because we’re going on two months of bad baseball. They have to actually fix stuff.

@pamsson This is what's so frustrating about Boonie. He insists the team is talented enough and the effort is good, but it's just not happening. What can he do to fix it ? Just think positive and wait for things to magically turn around.

How do you have a flat performance after that huge win yesterday? They were being no hit by a Seinfeld character. I am definitely an optimistic person but when do you actually get rolling and what are you doing to fix the issues? It can’t just be vibes.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been saying on the podcast this team doesn’t have a Posada/Tino/O’Neill type of leader. We keep saying Boone should be more public with his criticism, but the clubhouse needs that guy too. A guy who will challenge his teammates forcefully.

Jazz Chisholm jogging into first base on a ball like this makes zero sense. Putting pressure on the 2B to make the play could easily open a window for a misplay. He straightened up about mid-way to first and then slowed down as he went into the bag.

I’m sure this will be buried in the Devin Williams debacle but this is bad baseball. I’ve seen a lot of plays where running all the way through the bag creates a bad toss and the final play is a lot closer than what it was in this instance. The Yankees simply do not put pressure on the other team.
