I've met too many people and read too many books to ignore that the long-term winning formula for first-time success (no rich parents, etc) is: -Strong network/connections -Solid cognitive ability -Decent health -Vicious learning + relentless implementation -Low neuroticism + high conscientiousness -The right domain where your traits and skills are highly leveraged -Smart leverage of professionals/specialists (lawyers, tax advisors/CPAs, accountants etc)

"If—" is a poem by English poet Rudyard Kipling If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too: If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise; If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim, If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same: If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools; If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss: If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much: If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!

Most debates about job losses miss the point. A job isn't just about money. There are deeper psychological layers to it. Thoughts on what a job actually is, and whether society is set up for a world where you longer have to struggle for survival. open.substack.com/pub/bhuvan/p/a…

I call it the Ratchet Principle: the goal isn't to think brilliantly on your best days but to raise the floor of your worst days so that when you're tired, stressed, and running on bad coffee, you still make acceptable decisions instead of catastrophic ones.

The older you get, the more you realize: – Alchohol isn’t worth it – Gym is therapy – Sleep is luxury – Health is wealth – Junk food is crap

Something worth making explicit: if you find yourself agreeing with the quoted post *and* being certain that AI will create even more jobs because “that’s what the internet did” or “the industrial revolution did” or “Jevons Paradox”, consider if you’re thinking rigorously enough.

At the highest levels of the craft, analogies are a great explanation tool and a poor decision-making tool. Elegant for explaining the output of your thinking, treacherous as input to your thinking. Analogies are the map you draw after the journey, not one by which you navigate.

Very hard to sell a differentiated mission among AI labs right now - hence notable to launch a well-written manifesto with strategic sprinkles of what’s missing from the discourse & what the discerning audience wants to identify with. Smart legitimacy win for Thinking Machines!

A year ago we set out to empower humanity with a focus on multimodal AI, custom models, and open science. We previewed interaction models that collaborate the way people do. Tinker lets anyone train their own open weights models. We published our research on Connectionism.

Have realised that going to the gym is extremely imp to me and when I look back to the months leading upto Hyrox Bangalore this year where I was training, eating healthy, hitting protein goals and avoiding drinking alchohol, I was in the best place mentally and physically.
