We are excited to announce the winners of the Portals bounty as part of the @solana graveyard hackathon! In 1st place we have Project Nightbridge by @JamieMoof Project Nightbridge is a first-person psychological experience where the player volunteers for a clinical research program exploring controlled dreaming — a technology that allows participants to consciously interact with their subconscious while asleep, with the promise to add skills and unlock untapped potential. Across a series of dream simulations, players complete a series of simple puzzles. The experience begins clean, well-lit, and reassuring that later develops into something tense and unsettling that challenges the player’s sense of control and trust in the system. The demo is live now: theportal.to/s/nightbridge

Here's an example of how much money a game dev actually pockets after earning $100,000 of Gross Revenue on Steam: - ~18% (returns, chargebacks, taxes) = $82,000 - 30% (Steam's platform cut) = $57,400 - 0% (if you self-publish) - 15.3% (U.S. Self Employment Tax) = $48,617 - $4,377 (Federal income tax) = $44,270 - ~$0-$3,800 (State income tax) = ~$40,400 So you could pocket about $40,000, but don't be discouraged. $100k gross sounds like a lot but it's only 5,000 copies sold at $20. This is attainable, but it's also why it's important to keep your development timeline short. x.com/jogamedev/stat… Disclaimer: This is a rough simplified example for a US solo dev self-publishing as a sole proprietor with minimal other expenses. Actual results vary a lot by your location, business structure, deductions, filing status, etc. This is not tax or financial advice — talk to a CPA.

About a month ago we released the first version of the @_portals_ MCP. The first version was pretty rudimentary allowing for essentially the ability to do very basic things like basic logic, animating cubes, and setting up rough layouts of rooms. What was interesting is we saw a massive uptick in new creations. People who had never built anything in Portals where now vibe coding and tinkering with Portals through the MCP. We quickly realized that improvements were needed to the MCP and shipped version 1.1.1 two weeks later. The big update in version 1.1.1 was the introduction of the Portals Intelligence suite. Since the launch of version 1.1.1 we have seen 700 new builds in ~2 weeks.

Andy Weir on Ryland Grace's name in Project Hail Mary "The name of the ship he's on is the Hail Mary because it's a last desperate attempt to save humanity. And so, he's name is Grace. Hail Mary, full of Grace. And Ryland I just thought was kind of a cool name."

Portals has historically been known for its 3D games, but I am excited that with the new tools it is possible to build 2D games as well. Ran a quick test with @claudeai to see how difficult it would be to setup a 2D environment and it only took a few minutes for an MVP (spent some more time figuring out the animations). What is nice about this is because we run this on @_portals_ server it can be fully networked with multiplayer, spatial audio, and text chat supported.

Steve at Catlumpurr was such a FUN experience - TYSM everyone who visited our @jup_studio booth! At the event we: • Built a new token website specifically for CL, with our merch designs, link to the main game and more info about the token • Gave away over 140 super cute Steve plushies • Promoted Steve and @jup_mobile by giving away a tradable gaming NFT with each plushie - because you deserve a beautiful animated backpack in your @_portals_ games! Scan a QR core and voila - just use Jupiter mobile. • Built a unique playable experience with a digital CatLumpurr venue AND a jumping competition! All narrated with AI voices and links to @JupiterExchange , @Soulsearch_game and @JUPCommunity Twitter accounts • Gave away the best looking hoodies tha you can wear even outside of crypto events - they’re simple, elegant, and high quality! • Made shiny cards for visitors to learn about the Steve experience and visit our website • Gave away stickers, caps and t-shirts to match your beautiful beige hoodies, so you can fully shine! • Commissioned wooden Steve statues for even more shiny presence • Treated people with custom-made Steve M&Ms , because they taste even better with the shiny robot on them • Brought custom made LED signs to showcase our new logo • AND MOST IMPORTANTLY we met so many amazing people who quickly became our friends 🫶🏻

Testing AI 3D model generation in @_portals_. Current model on the left and new models on the right. Still nowhere near as good as an actual artist, but could get the job done for a lot of background items.

• Crypto metaverses targeted the next marginal buyer (adults) rather than the next generation (kids) • Roblox took 20 years to get to where it is and won because of laziness from Minecraft (arbitraged F2P vs paywall & vertically integrated mods/tooling/servers) • The last generation of crypto builders were millenials who have nearly zero cultural understanding of what made Minecraft/Roblox/Fortnite/VRChat resonate • Great 'metaverses' spawn from great games first, which there are very few in crypto (Roblox only was able to go platform-first because they were 20 years ahead) • Financialization intrinsically alienates 90% of players, financialization is a self-emerging property of a great product [black markets form by themselves when there is demand] • Economy-first attempts usually result in players abusing the systems before the game is able to bootstrap a sustainable player base and form those asset economies organically • Player psychology related to the above point, players do not like to "waste time" on games that feel like they are dead or are going to die soon which makes player counts death spiral • There has never been a single pre-crypto game economy that had an investible in-game currency, and most crypto games are designed around achieving that as a primary principle • NFT interoperability is only valuable to a developer if it drives UA, but this has generally been weak and removes a monetization pathway (holders don't spend, they hold) • The profit margins expected from "open economies" in crypto are significantly lower which makes it financially impossible to compete with platforms like Roblox which have a huge rake that funds growth • The last generation of metaverses were grifts disguised as builders and spent more of their time becoming token treasury slush funds (see: $SAND) rather than building an actual product • A huge demographic of metaverses are trans/furry/libs/autists/vtubers who usually politically oppose any crypto product even if the integration is subtle • If you try to market a crypto gaming/metaverse product you are instantly met with cancellation videos/threads/articles and headwinds that massively dampen your K-factor • Crypto product teams when it comes to IP & marketing are culturally out of touch with the current zeitgeist of what type of IP excites people [tendency to make pixel art games vs chasing genre blends or aesthetics like genshin impact / zenless zone zero] • The products mostly sucked and didn't try anything novel • Not enough anime girls

gece uyuyamadım, tek satır kod yazmadan multiplayer oyun yapıyorum projesini bir gecede şu aşamaya getirdim. yavaş yavaş çözüyorum, ücretsiz assetler bulup sıfırdan kendimce map oluşturdum. arayüze de biraz daha hakim olunca daha da iyileştireceğim inş.

I'm not a 3d modeler. I barely know how to open blender let alone do anything functional in it. But with the @sidahuj blender MCP and @claudeai I was able to vibe code an entire environment for my upcoming grow a garden game in @_portals_ Claude used the MCP to assemble and arrange every single asset in this space (i literally don't even know how to import an asset into blender lol) within the spawn of a few hours and with access to a folder of low poly assets. When I had it start doing its own modeling, it even matched the style of the environment to keep things consistent If you are building UGC games and you don't know anything about modeling or design like me, you gotta try it out... github.com/ahujasid/blend…
