I'll preface this by saying it comes from the extremely biased mind of a Knicks fan, BUT... If the NBA were serious about doing away with tanking (which we know it isn't), wouldn't they be all over this Trae/Wizards situation? Fun, young team that's 7-6 in their last 13 games, has several quality wins, losses mostly to very good teams, just addressed their biggest positional need...and several prominent NBA media members are already reporting they'll do what they need to do to ensure they keep their top-8 protected pick? We know Trae isn't really hurt and is playing ball to get paid. I know there's nothing the league can *really* do without first changing the pick protection rules (for instance, if this pick was either T-4 protected or lotto protected, it would be much less of a problem), but we're about to see an entire franchise engage in yet another calculated and blatant tanking operation knowing full well there are zero repercussions. One way or another, this has to change sometime soon.
