@P_Hendrickson @blueneumann I've worked with metallic eyelash yarn.

@khascat @blueneumann Crap. Now I want to try knitting or crocheting tinsel.

@blueneumann @P_Hendrickson I just watched Spirited because of Apple's free weekend. Definitely a different take on A Christmas Carol. Between that and Smigadoon I was definitely dancing and fondly remembering my musical theater days. #scriptchat
English

@jeannevb Usually I have a scene, maybe a scenario that the idea started with. Brainstorm and figure out everything I know at that moment about the script. Branch out to figure out main characters and plot. Outline. Repeat brainstorms as needed. #scriptchat

When you start a project, what's your process? Do you write a logline, analyze your characters? Where do you begin? #scriptchat
English

@jeannevb Still need to work on analyzing scripts to figure out what needs to be fixed. Still end up with a too short first draft because pieces are missing. #scriptchat

When you look back at this past year, is there anything you learned about yourself, in terms of writing (craft or career)? #scriptchat
English

@jeannevb @P_Hendrickson @blueneumann I need a shower just thinking about that. *shudders* #scriptchat

@P_Hendrickson @blueneumann @khascat After the last 9 days of cleaning out the antique shop, I've seen enough cobwebs, and inhaled far too much dust, to last a lifetime! #scriptchat

Do any of you have a story idea that has scared you to write? As in makes you feel vulnerable or uncomfortable but you can't stop thinking about it? If you do ... THAT is the one to write in 2025. Just sayin' #scriptchat
English

@jeannevb I've done that a little, and got the beginning fleshed out, but I get stuck because I haven't figured out what characters want. I just have interesting visuals. #scriptchat
English

@khascat Try setting a timer for 15 minutes and just doing a stream-of-consciousness writing sprint. See what comes out. #scriptchat
English

@jeannevb So many crafts. I need to dig my next blanket out of the closet #scriptchat
English

@khascat So cute! You're quite the crafty writer! #scriptchat

It's #SCRIPTCHAT O'CLOCK!
Happy New Year, #writer peeps!
Let's dive into the open topic ... but first, shout out your wins for either the week, the holidays, or the past year!

@jeannevb Many things. Rewrites of some projects, a few new things, and several ballroom dresses including one I've dubbed the fire dress. #scriptchat

What's on your mind for 2025? Do you have lofty goals, reworking old projects, jumping into something new and daring? #scriptchat

@JEStew3 My "dragon scale" polish for New Year's. Figured I needed it to enter 2025.

@khascat Love it Katie! The second fortune looks especially good with those nails holding it :)

So the second day of 2025 is nearly done—what forward movement have you made towards all you want to accomplish this year?
Remember, our greatest wins are not usually the result of singular momentous efforts that change things immediately—they are a collection of small, consistent, intentional ones.
Put another way, habits...
And habits, when you really look at them, are just a collection of tiny choices we make every day. Write for 30 minutes or doom scroll? Read a script or watch another tiktok?
The beautiful thing about these choices is that each one is an opportunity. It's an opportunity to put Future You in a better position to grasp the brass ring.
Just one small choice that moves us closer to our goals.
For us writers, maybe that's writing a scene. Or reading an awards season script, to see how the pros do it. Sending one email, reaching out to one potentially helpful soul...
Maybe it's just getting quiet with yourself and setting your intention for tomorrow. Write it down, look at it first thing, get it done.
The key is consistency over intensity. Small steps, taken daily, will carry us further than sporadic sprints. Way further.
So what's one small step you can take in the remaining hours of 2025: Day 2?
2025 is our year, people. It is here. We are in it. #LFG!

@BogeyGuyC I knew the unseasonable 50-60 degrees the past few days was too good to be true. *Sigh* I'll say goodbye to my curls again.

A couple days past Hollywood close of business & feeling the holiday spirit!
AND looking for a spec to read…. Maybe yours?
Pitch me in a reply—no pics, no links, no one sheets… just use words, like we would at a bar. Or a pancake breakfast. Or, you know, in an elevator.
I’ll read the most promising and give you a call over break to discuss—and, if you’re up for it—we can co-host a livestream and break it down for everyone else before the new year.
I’ll read pitches until 11:59pm PDT on the 23rd and make an announcement on the eve of Christmas & Hanukkah.
Who’s in?

@AshLazerWrites @TheStuntList I think a 2025 goal of mine will be to get my psychological thriller ready to submit for next year.

@fringeblog I have a vague idea. Mostly it involves actually starting to write again, same goal I've had for the past few months that I haven't accomplished. Maybe concentrating on fellowships next year. Actually starting to query Celtic Cross & Dragon Creme Brulee? 😵💫
English

By this point you should have your 2025 writing goals figured out. If not, well, maybe you should take a few days to start thinking about how much ass you want to kick next year.
