If the President took such a decision to interdict the proceedings of the impeachment committee, it would be commendable given the imprudence and irrationality of initiating impeachment proceedings based on a report that is under judicial review. Seeking an interdict to halt the impeachment proceedings pending the outcome of judicial review of the fundamentally flawed Section 89 Independent Panel Report would constitute a rightful and judicious assertion of his rights and not avoidance of accountability.

Off topic, I cringed when Sizwe had AKA's dad on his podcast and revealed he had not spoken to AKA in 10 years since his ascendance to fame. He says it was driven by his disappointed that AKA became famous and "forgot" about them.

I find your entire stance on this matter quite odd. I also find it odd that you characterise both the review and the interim interdict as extraordinary, as if they aren’t par for the course with all parliamentary reports. It is neither the first, nor will it be the last time. It would be absolute legal foolishness not to take any parliamentary, PP etc. report establishing legal guilt on judicial review, no? In fact, the Constitutional Court itself anticipated this and said “…must be implemented through a referral to an Impeachment Committee, unless and until the report is set aside on review.” So why are you deeming wrongful legal processes the Constitutional Court itself both anticipated and, in fact, did not deem as wrongful? Unless, of course, you disagree with the CC, which is an entirely different topic. The problem, I suspect, my brother, and I say this with respect and full honesty, was your initial over-excitement at the judgment and expectation that impeachment would be imminent. You let emotions cloud your legal judgment, which would have told you to curb your enthusiasm, as predictable and perfectly sound legal processes would follow, and hoping for the instant gratification of an imminent resignation or impeachment, a fool’s errand. And now, I suspect, you indulge your mind leaning on populism to excuse rushed analysis that was not thoroughly subjected to your legal mind. You formed an opinion too quickly and did not subject it to your usual intellectual and legal rigour. I hold you in high regard. You know this. I am very supportive of your work. I have generally not found it to be populist. And that is why I find all of this odd and rather beneath you, Sizwe. You are far smarter and more knowledgeable than this. That’s not to say that you are not entitled to your opinions, but not all opinions are correct. I think your not applying your legal mind to manage your own and your audience’s expectations was misguided. And that is why so many are confused by your stance. You are usually far more erudite in your thinking. This does not appear to have been subjected to your intellectual rigour. That’s all.

Sizwe Mpofu must be engaged as an MK Party spokesperson and not a rational social commentator. His views on anything are founded on opposition to Ramaphosa/the ANC so you’ll seldom hear any logic from him.

The Constitution applies to all of us equally. Everybody is entitled to due process. Even convicts can appeal their sentences.

Storms & heavy rains are devastating people lives in the Cape… the chap took platform to address us about not resigning & made zero mention of this weather crisis. Nothing about our people’s well-being in this difficult time! For me this is the true measure of his leadership! A simple note that there are those who are fighting flood waters that are drowning their homes, closure of schools and devastation of both private and public infrastructure. Including casualties. These people, as he spoke about not resigning as their president, most probably have no way of even hearing his message! Terrible show of leadership!
