Canada already has an exit tax. When you emigrate, the CRA treats most assets you own — stocks, investments, crypto, art — as if sold the day you left. You owe capital gains on money you never collected, on a transaction that never happened. California is pushing a ballot measure this fall. New York is in the conversation. Private property is only private until you try to leave with it. At that point, the state decides what you owe on the way out. Canada already crossed that line. These states are debating whether to follow.

Antifa networks in Canada should be investigated for terrorist designations. Last night dozens of masked Antifa radicals descended on the studio of Nomos-TV, a Quebec nationalist web outlet in Montréal's Plateau district. These "Anti-fascist" masked militants surrounded Alexandre Cormier-Denis' vehicle, preventing him from safely exiting. His car was vandalized with stickers-including messages calling for violence against Quebec intellectual Mathieu Bock-Côté. Olivier Arbour-Masse, a journalist for Radio-Canada, was reportedly identified on-site. In a wild coincidence, he purportedly attempted to interview Cormier-Denis during the swarming. Cormier-Denis left for a police station and was followed by some of the same militants. Other belligerents remained and were preventing by the police from entering the Nomos-TV studio. Surrounding a vehicle, restricting movement, and defacing property while circulating violent messaging is intimidation and harassment. It may also raise serious criminal-law questions. In response to this violent mob action against free speech, Jonathan Durand Folco, a far-left professor at an obscure university in Ottawa publicly expressed, "Solidarity" with the group responsible for the targeted attack. In his own words, Folco supports the “Front antifasciste populaire” for interfering with a media recording at Nomos-TV and their participation in the violent events of last night. The standard script of activists in the academy and the legacy media is to label the targets of mob violence as extreme right then treat criminal behaviour towards them as justified. Whether ones agrees or disagrees with the views expressed by Alexandre Cormier-Denis is irrelevant. We either live in a free society where people can debate the merits of their ideas in the public square or we live in an anarcho-tyranny where the mob may come for you next. Canada, we have a problem of lawlessness and extremism and it isn't being generated by the right.

Singapore is not a high trust society, it’s a port city where order is enforced by a draconian police state that canes people for stuff that isn’t even a crime here. If that police state disappeared next Tuesday, you’d have a race war by the weekend. Nice place to visit though.
