@Bert_Plumswang That’s HMS Unison back in Portsmouth. This is her crew when they were still in Malta, before being hit by the Yankee Arrow, a US armed tanker, in a friendly fire incident, which killed one and wounded two, including the CO, Anthony Daniell DSO DSC. He was my grandfather

At just 14, Clifford lied to serve; killed before 16 at Passchendaele. This Remembrance Day, we honour Canada’s youngest heroes who paid the ultimate price for our peace. Lest we forget. #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget

@NormanBrennan She was a good egg.

🇬🇧🌺 Today we pause to honour the life and service of Captain Elizabeth Helen Godwin, aged just 28, who tragically lost her life in a car accident in Surrey on 5 September.
Captain Godwin made history as the first female officer of the Life Guards, the Army’s most senior regiment within the Household Cavalry. A gifted leader, she joined the regiment in 2020 after winning the Sword of Honour at Sandhurst as the best of her intake.
She was dedicated, compassionate, and determined to always put her soldiers first. Beyond her duties, she represented the Army in polo and hockey, and played her part in history by serving at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral and the King’s coronation.
Her military funeral took place at the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, where comrades, young soldiers she had taught, and fellow officers came together to pay tribute.
As her Commanding Officer said:
"History may record Lizzie as the first female officer in the Army's most senior regiment, but she would want to be remembered simply as a tough and talented young officer doing her utmost to serve King and country and to lead and inspire soldiers."
Captain Godwin’s legacy will live on through the lives she touched, the soldiers she inspired, and the history she helped to shape.
Rest in peace, Captain Godwin. 🇬🇧❤️

@PusserStokes I visited the Alliance which was super cramped, always wondered if the O boats were much bigger inside. Interesting visit from a skimmer perspective.

@StThrobber True I felt there were small remnants here and there.

@killickbunts Last time I was in Guzz (Falklands 40th reunion) it no longer had the feel of a naval city, same with Pompey. Such a shame.
