They usually went wrong by calling the guy generational. There have only been two generational prospects this century. LeBron and Victor. If there was more than one of them per generation they wouldn’t be generational. It’s just a really overused word.
Sahil Patel (fka P_S_2)@patelsahil2002

If someone calls a prospect generational, one of the greatest prospects ever, all that and has them 1 on their board and the player is a good player would go 1 in a redraft but nowhere near a generational player, did they get their eval right or wrong?

“NIL killed Cinderella” is really just nostalgia for a system where players couldn’t get paid and had no mobility. Of course mid-major stars stayed put back then… they had no choice. Now they do… and suddenly March Madness is “ruined”? It’s far more nuanced than that.

Whatever you feel like, using Tatum in this way is not gon win you a chip. Like deferring to Jaylen is one thing, deferring to Payton Pritchard and Luka Garza is too insane for my blood.

Problem is that a lot of people don’t enjoy sports or the athletes. They’re watching to start or win arguments against a bunch of other losers. That’s why everything has to be extreme. Everyone’s overrated. They can’t even discuss players they like without putting another down.

Could not possibly bring myself to be concerned about Jayson Tatum’s shooting efficiency 8 games off an Achilles recovery. Please close your Basketball Reference tab and use some common sense

@jeff_on_sports @MichaelRedd_ To be fair I think saying he has the lowest floor of the top 5-6 guys in a loaded draft is different from saying he’s a low floor prospect period.

@MichaelRedd_ I don’t believe any prospect with a clearly defined great NBA trait is a low floor prospect. I’d agree more with the “lower ceiling” criticisms given Acuff’s defense and the history of small guards leading championship teams

Don’t think this is a hot take anymore, but: Acuff has the lowest floor of any of the top draft prospects. He also potentially has the highest offensive ceiling. If I’m a GM secure in my job, I think about taking him 2-3. If I’m not secure, I understand taking the high floor guys. Either way, excited we get to watch him at least one more time. (And disappointed that we don’t get to see AJ.)
Frankie Vision@Frankie_Vision

Darius Acuff Jr. today vs Highpoint.. 36 PTS (11/22 FG, 3/6 3PT, 11/13 FT) 1 REB 6 AST 1 STL I’m done arguing with yall. We done with the “best cal guard” talks. BEST CAL PLAYER EVER.. 4 more wins and yall won’t be able to deny him !! A NBA team is gonna be very happy in the next few months..

@Kameron_Hay I will say if the Bucks didn’t win in ‘21 I think Giannis would be catching a lot more heat for his lack of playoff success the last 5 seasons. But that ring pretty much made him teflon in a lot of peoples eyes

Because everybody in the current top 5 players in the league is seen as an overachiever except for Luka and Wemby who were expected to be this good. Joker, Giannis and Shai all basically blew past expectations that were placed on them already
kingtisemedia@kingtisemedia

Something none of the current stars have experienced yet is the pressure to win again. Kobe, Shaq, Bron, Steph, KD all had the pressure and criticism to win again. Plays a big part in how a lot of people view KD rn

@NickMcLawhorn @JoshEberley Do you believe the Celtics are still the 2 seed or even the 1 seed today if Jaylen didn’t play all season? They’re better without him right? He’s holding them back right?

@LAClippersFilm I’m just trying to understand the baseline if Jaylen’s performance this season is supposed to be closer to Derrick White than Kawhi.
