@markjaquith @WordPress He’s likely to skip and go build an AI startup.

Small discovery that made me smile:
My son's high school computer literacy class is teaching him about publishing software I helped lead and popularize for over a decade (@WordPress). The thing I excitedly skipped college classes to build is now a boring required class. 🙂

Build in public check-in: One thing I love about habit tracking by tweeting is that it creates a long-term asset that enshrines your progress/achievements and provides more of a visual progress indicator. It's also proof that you did the work, more than some LinkedIn credential would show since this shows your consistency day after day. That's something to be proud of.
Yesterday I was playing with ways to show that off for users in a fun way beyond just the habit graph we currently use. This example uses my daily @_MathAcademy_ updates. It's super basic, but you get the idea. I'm going to explore this more as I get time.

Come on dishoom! Cross that pond. One of my must-visits on my trips to London.
Especially the new one with the art-deco interior.
Nikhil Krishnan@nikillinit
Dishoom made nearly $150M in revenue in 2023, though only about ~$10.3M in operating profit pretty impressive considering how consistent the quality is as they've scaled (11 locations now) also the founders are Harvard Business school grads and did bain/investment banking lol

@robleathern The UX on everything other than Tesla (for Tesla owners) is awful. I shouldn't be required to set up an account to fuel my car.
Tap your card should be it.

@adamnash @Pierce_Brown Agree! Amazing vacation read- I’m in the middle of book 3.
English

Had a chance to read the first three books of the "Red Rising" series by @Pierce_Brown in the past two weeks.
Highly recommend, especially if you've been missing a new sci-fi series. Set in the future about 700 years w/ full solar system colonization + genetic engineering.
Very clearly an author that loves sci-fi. Echoes of Starship Troopers, Ender's Game, Divergent, Illium, and Red Mars.
Might be the first new sci-fi series that I've enjoyed in over a decade.
Just purchased the next three books.

I used to weigh 495 lbs. I’m now down to 235 lbs. that’s a 53% reduction in my weight.
I’ve spent the last 6 years really focused and that’s been the trick for the last 150 lbs.
I’ve done 3 things that helped.
The first was focusing on sleep. I now get 7 hours minimum every night. That has meant moving meetings around but it’s been so worth it.
The second was learning to cut many of my meals in half. Serving sizes are outrageous these days and it’s helped me redefine what would fill me up.
Notice none of these required any working out or athletic effort. But a couple weeks ago I stepped into the third move - exercise.
I’ve started doing @body20studio - which puts a new kind of workout suit (FDA cleared) on you for additional muscle stimulation while doing a 20 min workout. WOW!
I just finished a workout and I’m tired. But that was 20 minutes I could do without straining anything. It’s 100 times more effective than me working out on my own.
My day job is focused on #motivation. One of the things I hear a lot is that losing weight requires motivation. That’s totally correct but nothing like what people mean when they say it (like motivation ebbs and flows). It’s learning how you’re wired so that you can tap into your natural motivation to make crazy things happen (like losing more than 50% of your weight in a healthy way).

New to me: capital one now requires you to take a picture of your ID to be approved for a credit card.
They text you a link that goes to your camera.
Get ready for the next era in fraud. @robleathern
