@Prevail2014 Durandal is one of my favorite characters in a video game. I guess they are hinting at him in new Marathon, but I wish they wouldn't. They are going to write him like a Millennial ChatGPT Agent and I hate it already.

I do not "get" the new Marathon game. At all. I watched some streams and was totally baffled. BUT... it did make me nostalgic so I downloaded the FIRST Marathon game and was not prepared for the total muscle memory overload. It was like the last 30 years compressed into a single frame and I was back in the college computer lab again. I played that game so much, you guys. Anyway, Marathon 1 has the WORST intro level of any game I have ever played. It is purposely designed to make you quit in angry confusion. Maybe that is why the new one is a spiritual successor?

@32nds i grew up with these and i go through them every few years. in m1 it’s really only arrival and chicken that grind my gears. infinity has a bunch of maps like that though and it really makes anything but m2 hard to recommend

@kingjoyeuse There are some levels that feel like they got wadded up and re-extruded. So far it is a LOT easier than I remember, though, so maybe it won't be that bad.

Bungie needs to let us rewatch the Marathon cutscenes in game. This intro cutscene is so well done and if you're not paying attention when booting the game the first time you miss out on this art

Bungie has canceled two GDC 2026 panels focused on Marathon: one on high-performance networking for gameplay movement and shooting, and another on scaling automated testing from Destiny to support Marathon as a live-service title. No official reason given yet

that’s purely your opinion and clearly in the minority or they wouldn’t be remastering halo for the 3rd time. plenty of people think live service games are more stale today. bungie is no longer interested because it’s a completely different company today that just uses the same name. marathon is still wholly unique among single player campaigns. you should try it sometime.

Reason I’m so pissed about marathon is because I’m a massive bungie fan and they just made the completely wrong game. “Oh but in the lore” I don’t give a fuck dude that’s not a good excuse. It’s like if they said they’re making a new Forza horizon and then that show rocket league
