We can’t keep repeating the same approaches and expect different results.
If the goal is to actually help people, we need to be honest about what isn’t working and stop doubling down on it.
That doesn’t mean doing nothing. It means reallocating resources toward treatment, recovery, and long-term stability.
Until then, funding the status quo isn’t compassion, it’s complacency.
We owe it to residents and those struggling on our streets to demand better than policies that simply manage decline.

This is exactly what AOC did when she went to the Met Gala, unmasked at the height of COVID. She desperately wanted to go but knew that having teams of masked servants dress her and her boyfriend and attend to them so that they could mix with celebrities at a gluttonous gala (which is what happened) would conflict a bit with her political brand.
So she cynically slapped on a "Tax the Rich" label to her designer gown, knowing that enough of her fans would see this as some sort of rebellious act (as if standard left-liberal political clichés like that would offend the Hollywood and NYC fashion liberals who rule the Gala).
Then, when some people complained, she strongly suggested that they were racists because she and her designer were both women of color and that's what people were really upset about.

Vancouver Whitecaps supporters are fighting for the existence of their club.
A consortium based in Las Vegas have table a bid to buy the Whitecaps, with a plan to relocate them to Vegas.
If this happens, the Whitecaps will cease to exist. Sadly, the MLS franchise system allows this to happen.
But that doesn't mean it should. Fans voices should be heard ahead of corporate greed.

It's one thing when a club dies. It's another when it's killed by people from within it's pyramid.

Remember when Vancouver used to be fun?
We had a racetrack. It’s gone. Now we’re staring down the reality of losing our soccer team while other cities are lining up to take it.
Look at Las Vegas. $10 BILLION sports complex. 50,000 seat stadium. They’re aggressive. They’re competing. They want teams and they go out and get them.
Here? We stall. We study. We regulate. We push investment away.
And we’ve seen this movie before.
The Grizzlies didn’t just disappear. They were driven out during the last stretch of NDP governance. High costs, no vision, no urgency to keep them here.
Same pattern. Different decade.
While other cities grow their sports culture, their economy, their identity, Vancouver keeps losing pieces of what made it great.
This isn’t bad luck. It’s bad policy.
The NDP aren’t building a world class city. They’re managing decline.
