After 150+ Hours in Marathon, I’m just as excited, if not more to get on and grind as I was day one. It’s all I think about when I’m at work, what faction I’m going to work on, what materials I need to grind for, thinking about that juicer game I had the night before where I went in with nothing but a BR and some Light ammo, and came out with 20k+ worth of gear. It’s amazing to see high praise in reviews of the game coming out today but it does make me wish that the community sentiment was more positive, but ultimately Destiny players feel as though Bungie abandoned them by delaying content to get Marathon out of the gate. I could be way off the mark here, but I think they’re working on Destiny 3. I mean, these are industry professionals, they know the market better than anyone, do I think Bungie for all of their faults would bank the success of their company on a niche, hardcore genre that only a subset of players are going to be interested in, or skilled enough to actually enjoy? Because let’s be unfiltered and truthful here, if you suck at FPS, you’re going to get absolutely nowhere on Marathon. You aren’t shooting Ads in a raid, you’re risking hours worth of work being taken away from you because you reloaded your gun next to a wall and gave your position away to the dude slow walking on the other side of it with a Purple WSTR and a $300 headset. It’s not for everyone, I think Bungie knows that. I also don’t think in a million years they’d abandon Destiny, nor would PlayStation have acquired them without knowing they would be working on a sequel. #Marathon

How it feels to say “I enjoy Marathon” on social media

Marathon is good. Tired of the negativity around every single new game that comes out that is different. The gameplay is solid and the depth of this game lore wise is wild. It takes a while to settle in and learn everything but I cannot understand the amount of negative sentiment I am seeing. The most polarizing topic is the art style which I can see why it’s not for everyone. I personally love it. Doesn’t change the fact that a studio is doing something really different and pushing gaming into a new space with fresh ideas. Kudos to @MarathonTheGame and @Bungie for making something this well polished and fresh.
