@RE_McGEE @OrmistonAcads @open_door_teach I have something calmer lined up, but I'll have more time to think and blog. It's not how I'd have liked it to end, but the universe unfolds as it should.

I will no longer be leading RE for @OrmistonAcads from September, but would like to thank @open_door_teach for being an ace partner-in-crime. I'm glad we did as much as we could to push the subject, but the task is very far from complete and I wish her luck!

@open_door_teach @OrmistonAcads @TomRees_77 @teacherhead Great reflections. I did warn you about that second cup of tea though…

Great teaching - @OrmistonAcads National Conference.
Reflections from @TomRees_77 setting the tone and a fabulous keynote with @teacherhead.
Sharing in this format for the first time, so please be gentle!

Exciting opportunity to join an excellent team promoting ambitious history and improving student outcomes across Ormiston Academies Trust. Similar roles in MFL and Maths (London and South region) available. @mynewterm #mfltwitterati #edujobs #edutwitter

Beyond proud of @NickHaddon6 for his resilience and strength. Huge thank you to the school who have been so supportive and shown that true compassion is not yet lost in educational leadership. Life can change in an instant. Reminder to everyone to take nothing for granted 💔

📣 Are you based in the West Midlands and looking for a Humanities role (specialising in Geography)? @W_O_Academy may be the school for you! A supportive department offering lots of CPD oatcareers.co.uk/job/humanities…

@CllrKrisWilson @MrsGolby Clearly no lessons have been learnt about making ill informed comments about absence 😔
English

I see that a former Labour Councillor is attacking @MrsGolby for having a job and daring to actually contribute to her community by being a councillor. What an absolute disgrace! This is sexist and misogynistic behaviour. At least she does work and pays her way in society.

English

@AidanSevers This is really awful. Imagine the outcry and fallout if you’d have secretly recorded that meeting
English

@4C3d @Strickomaster The simple things - respect, routines, calm learning environments free of disruption. By simple I mean what probably used to have been regarded as the basics, but for whatever reason seem to have become lost and over complicated
English

@klb_edwards @Strickomaster From what you have seen/experienced what type of behaviour Kathryn, how would you characterise what they are looking for?
English

@MrsGolby You’re better than all the options currently on the table 😂
English

Loved being able to geek out with my subject and talk all things physical systems to the Geography trainees today

Last day of Subject Knowledge Enhancement Conference today! Thanks to all the trainees @InitialOaks for being such great participants and thanks to everyone who volunteered their time to deliver sessions over the last 3 days. You’ve been great! 🙏 👏 😊
English

@RogersHistory Same key principles of teaching apply. But key things I look for are the level of challenge (which often isn’t high enough), expert knowledge from the teacher, preparation for HE/links to careers if appropriate, and appropriate use of the lesson i.e not a study period activity
English

@son1bun @clivewright1969 Totally agree they were incredible
English

#rEDLeicester! Can we just celebrate the young people from @clivewright1969 school! The levels of confidence, care and charisma was contagious! I’m proud for you! 👏🏽
English

@mr_englishteach @Anthony_Teach I hate conversations about this.
Strategies for closing gaps (gender, PP, ethnicity, etc.) need to look at individuals, not groups. Generic strategies based upon preconceptions invites unconscious bias and rarely have a long-term positive effect.

An excellent thread on the recruitment crisis which highlights just how complex and multi faceted it is

There's a teacher shortage coming. It's been coming for a while, but was staved off by the pandemic. Now, it's heaving back into view & it isn't pretty. It's easy to blame the DfE, but I think some other things are happening that matter outside of education too 🧵... STRAP IN!
