@RE_McGEE @OrmistonAcads @open_door_teach I have something calmer lined up, but I'll have more time to think and blog. It's not how I'd have liked it to end, but the universe unfolds as it should.

I will no longer be leading RE for @OrmistonAcads from September, but would like to thank @open_door_teach for being an ace partner-in-crime. I'm glad we did as much as we could to push the subject, but the task is very far from complete and I wish her luck!

Beyond proud of @NickHaddon6 for his resilience and strength. Huge thank you to the school who have been so supportive and shown that true compassion is not yet lost in educational leadership. Life can change in an instant. Reminder to everyone to take nothing for granted 💔

I see that a former Labour Councillor is attacking @MrsGolby for having a job and daring to actually contribute to her community by being a councillor. What an absolute disgrace! This is sexist and misogynistic behaviour. At least she does work and pays her way in society.

@4C3d @Strickomaster The simple things - respect, routines, calm learning environments free of disruption. By simple I mean what probably used to have been regarded as the basics, but for whatever reason seem to have become lost and over complicated

I’m honoured that I’ve been asked so many times but I’m afraid I can’t run in the vote to be the Prime Minister ………….yet

@RogersHistory Same key principles of teaching apply. But key things I look for are the level of challenge (which often isn’t high enough), expert knowledge from the teacher, preparation for HE/links to careers if appropriate, and appropriate use of the lesson i.e not a study period activity

Question on DM, can you help? "I have an interview in a sixth form college, what are they looking for in the lesson observation? Are they looking for the same things as a school or do they want more of a lecture style lesson?"

@mr_englishteach @Anthony_Teach I hate conversations about this. Strategies for closing gaps (gender, PP, ethnicity, etc.) need to look at individuals, not groups. Generic strategies based upon preconceptions invites unconscious bias and rarely have a long-term positive effect.

I've done loads of webinars and in-person CPD sessions over the last few years. And when I ask teachers about "boys' engagement strategies" they've been told to use they always say the same things. Guess what the top 5 responses are...
