Here’s another view of that ugly petrol station coming up on James Gichuru where Pallet Cafe used to be. How was it allowed to be built steps away from two Shells, 500m from another Shell, and a km from a Rubis? Our trees keep being cut for illegal development in Nairobi ffs.

Someday I’ll do a recap about what it’s like organizing a matchmaking event (as someone who never did this before) for single Muslims in Nairobi. One thing though is how resistant men are to such ideas while women have overwhelmingly showed interest. Anyone have opinions on why?

You killed her and then ask for a public participation on the already-hived off forest land to build William Ruto a state lodge, something Esther long exposed as a legal quagmire. Ms Wairimu knew too much for her own safety.

Every legal practitioner, every Forester, every active citizen, every Kenyan, Must come out and speak for Esther Wairimu Keige. Esther Wairimu was a 54 year old senior Legal Officer , Kenya Forest Service, stationed at Karura Forest Esther was abducted three weeks ago and she has been found dead. We cannot normalize abductions and murder in this country. Enough is Enough! If this post appears on your TL, reply with the hashtag #JusticeForEstherWairimu #EndAbductionsKe

@JimNairobi1963 Or… people could just leave trees alone and build things that work with the environment and public need instead of against it. Theres already 4 petrol stations in a 1.5km stretch on both sides of the road.

@kmfarah I thinks it better to have a petrol station than those massive hive like 500 apartments units highrise buildings

Is that… another petrol station popping up on James Gichuru (where Pallet Cafe used to be). Literal steps away from 2 Shells. 500m away from a third Shell. And a km away from the Rubis?

With each new towering structure that comes up, each of them cutting trees, digging boreholes and some even emptying their sewage into the river because the system can’t handle the development, we have lost one of the things that make this city unique- its waterways.

We gotta talk about the sewage that flows down Nairobi River every damn day. Yaani we can’t sit in our homes without our noses being assaulted each evening. There are no frogs or birds that nest along the river anymore. It’s practically dead.

Riverbank is embedded with trash. I haven’t heard a frog in years. No crickets. Only bird you’ll see is the hadada. Monkeys, who we would see maybe once every few months, come in droves everyday because there are fewer trees. And forgat sitting outside because THE SEWAGE?!? 🤢🤮

12 years ago, the river was healthy enough that even eagles came to eat from it. Rainy season meant an orchestra of frogs serenaded you to sleep. You could sit outside day and night and hear nothing but birdsong and the sound of the river flowing by. Now?
