@HashimTalks This statement strikes the right balance between celebrating a genuine success and using it as a rallying cry for broader action. Commending the security forces publicly boosts morale, which is crucial for personnel risking their lives in tough operations like this one.

ORIIRE RESCUE: OUR SECURITY FORCES CAN DEFEAT CRIMINALS WITH STRONG POLITICAL BACKING
I warmly commend the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and all other security personnel involved in the successful rescue of the victims abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State after about 50 days in captivity.
This operation once again proves what I have always believed, that Nigeria's security forces have the capacity to defeat criminal gangs when they receive clear political direction, sustained support and unwavering National resolve.
I have never doubted the ability of our Defence Forces to secure our country. What has often been lacking is clarity of purpose and consistent political leadership.
Our military has demonstrated this capability before. In Liberia and Sierra Leone, Nigerian troops under the ECOMOG mission played decisive roles in ending devastating conflicts and restoring peace. The same professionalism and courage exist today within our security institutions.
The success recorded in Oriire must not remain an isolated achievement. It should become the template for a coordinated nationwide offensive against kidnappers, terrorists, bandits and other violent criminal groups.
The same determination that secured the freedom of the Oriire victims must now be deployed across every community where innocent Nigerians remain in captivity, including parts of Kwara, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau and Kebbi States.
No family should be abandoned when the Nigerian State has the capacity to act.
Above all, we must now take the fight decisively to terrorists occupying different parts of our country through an integrated National Security strategy aimed at ending the terrorist war against our people.
I congratulate the officers and men of our Armed Forces, the Police and the DSS for their courage, professionalism and sacrifice. Their success has renewed hope and strengthened public confidence in our security institutions.
I also congratulate the rescued victims and their families and pray for their complete physical, emotional and psychological recovery from this traumatic ordeal.
Nigeria can defeat insecurity. What is required is the political will to match the courage and professionalism of our security forces.

@HashimTalks History shows that military success often depends on clear leadership, resources, and rules of engagement. This rescue (after 56 days, with pupils and teachers freed) demonstrates what coordinated effort can achieve

FG Increases WAEC, NECO Examination Fee From N27,500 to N50,000 for 2027
The Federal Government has approved a new examination fee of N50,000 for candidates sitting the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE), with the new rate taking effect from 2027.
The approval was contained in a June 18 statement signed by Adeniji Ibrahim, Director of Senior Secondary Education at the Federal Ministry of Education. It followed a request by WAEC for an upward review of the SSCE registration fee.
The new fee represents an 82% increase from the current N27,500 charged per candidate.
According to Ibrahim, the decision was reached after a March 31, 2026 meeting between the Minister of Education and examination bodies, where the need to review examination fees was discussed. He said the minister also directed both WAEC and NECO to adopt a uniform examination fee.
“You may recall that at a meeting of examination bodies held with the honourable minister of education on 31 March, 2026, where the need for upward review of examination fees was discussed, the honourable minister directed that WAEC and NECO should adopt a uniform fee for the conduct of WAEC and NECO SSCE,” the statement read.
It added, “Consequently, I am directed to convey the honourable minister of education’s approval of the sum of fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) only, as the new examination fee per candidate, with effect from NECO SSCE (Internal), 2027.”
The ministry said the directive should be communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
