It's amazing how much 2nd century Christianity looks identical to Catholicism in later centuries (even to this day). Already we have the Eucharist, monepiscopacy, papal supremacy, Mary as co-redemptrix, the Trinity, the transition from the Old Law to the New, etc. I get that there are Protestants who have read the Fathers, but really any reading of the earliest Fathers but the Catholic one is complete cope. Orthodox theology is ruled out by Irenaeus on the papacy too. This also destroys liberal higher critical understandings of the development of Christianity because all our evidence points to Christianity as a hierarchical, unified movement from the beginning with breakaway heretical sects rather than a bunch of disconnected communities that later merged into a single structure.

@wrathofgnon The USA releases incredible data compared to Canada, at least. Canadian statistics are all heavily censored. We don't release race and crime statistics for example. We don't release racial demographic information either (only "ethnicity"). Not sure how other countries stack up.

Important point here. Does other countries not as polarized have similarly clear statistics like the US?

@QuetzalPhoenix I think that he’s addressing this spectre of a person who is just hateful to everyone not like them; that Netflix style caricature. Which I agree is not helpful.

@QuetzalPhoenix He’s stated in the past that nations have a right to determine who and how many people enter their country. But us, as individuals, always are obligated to exemplify Christian virtues in our daily life.

Reminder to fellow Catholics that the Pope is like your grandfather: you should respect him and listen to hik, but are under no actual obligation to agree with his politics.
