Nigeria is the largest crude oil producer on the continent, yet it has long depended on imported refined fuel. For years, fuel had to be brought in from abroad, leaving the country exposed to rising costs and long queues at stations. Aliko Dangote built one of the world’s largest single train refineries to change that. With close to $10 billion deployed by Afreximbank, the refinery is now exceeding Nigeria’s domestic fuel needs. There is something profoundly reassuring about the friendship between Ghana and Zimbabwe. The police will meet with Cardinal Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and work to explore solutions that allow for as normal a routine as possible while ensuring public safety.
