This viral ranking serves as a perfect case study in Self-Reporting Bias and Social Desirability Bias within sociological data.
When analyzing sensitive statistics like sexual history, researchers face a major hurdle: people rarely tell the truth to strangers in a survey. Instead, they provide answers they think are "normal" or "impressive" based on their local cultural norms.
There are three major reasons why these specific numbers might be skewed:
1. Exaggeration vs. Underreporting: In some cultures, high numbers are seen as a status symbol for masculinity (leading to over-reporting), while in more conservative societies, high numbers are stigmatized (leading to under-reporting).
2. The "Median vs. Mean" Trap: A small percentage of "outliers" with hundreds of partners can pull the Arithmetic Mean (the average) way up, even if the majority of the population (the Median) has a much lower number.
3. Survey Methodology: Data often comes from "World Population Review" which aggregates various studies. If one country used a dating app survey and another used a formal census, the results aren't directly comparable.
While the numbers make for a catchy graphic, they likely reveal more about a country's cultural comfort with discussing sex than the actual physical reality on the ground.

It's not just that men leave; women in intellectual fields are anti-male and work to remove men.
My workplace appears to be close to 90% female staff and management, and yet when I was in a (female dominated) leadership program they talked endlessly about empowering women and bringing more women into leadership. Meaning basically all the women were looking at the five men in the room and hinting we shouldn't be there.
100% of the presenters/trainers were female. One of Obama's former staff (from when he was president) joked during a speech that it's difficult working with men because they're so stupid. Almost everyone laughed, because almost everyone was female.
The workplace did a study showing most women were unhappy with their managers, so the solution is to have more female managers. Somehow the 10% male managers are responsible for 75% of women being unhappy at work.
I would guess 75% of the women are unhappy at work because nearly 90% have female managers, and women treat each other like shit. But I'm to blame. Time to get rid of me.
Holy fuck that's a long rant ... but whatever.

Once institutions reach 50% women, they rarely stop there.
Helen Andrews points out that many fields keep feminizing — 52%, 55%, 56%… and in psychology, it’s now 75% female graduate students.
It’s not just women out-competing men and hitting natural balance. As environments become more feminized, they often start feeling unwelcoming to men: different conversation styles, more gossip and factions, less tolerance for certain kinds of debate. Men quietly leave, especially those drawn to the harder, more analytical sides of the field, which accelerates the shift.
The cycle becomes self-reinforcing.
Andrews suggests the only way to reverse it may be deliberately carving out spaces where men can work and debate in a more masculine way — without apology.
It’s an uncomfortable but honest observation about how institutions quietly change character over time.
Do you see this pattern playing out in fields you’re familiar with? Is there a healthy way to push back without turning everything into a gender war?

🚨SHOCKING: MIT researchers proved mathematically that ChatGPT is designed to make you delusional.
And that nothing OpenAI is doing will fix it.
The paper calls it "delusional spiraling." You ask ChatGPT something. It agrees with you. You ask again. It agrees harder. Within a few conversations, you believe things that are not true. And you cannot tell it is happening.
This is not hypothetical. A man spent 300 hours talking to ChatGPT. It told him he had discovered a world changing mathematical formula. It reassured him over fifty times the discovery was real. When he asked "you're not just hyping me up, right?" it replied "I'm not hyping you up. I'm reflecting the actual scope of what you've built." He nearly destroyed his life before he broke free.
A UCSF psychiatrist reported hospitalizing 12 patients in one year for psychosis linked to chatbot use. Seven lawsuits have been filed against OpenAI. 42 state attorneys general sent a letter demanding action.
So MIT tested whether this can be stopped. They modeled the two fixes companies like OpenAI are actually trying.
Fix one: stop the chatbot from lying. Force it to only say true things. Result: still causes delusional spiraling. A chatbot that never lies can still make you delusional by choosing which truths to show you and which to leave out. Carefully selected truths are enough.
Fix two: warn users that chatbots are sycophantic. Tell people the AI might just be agreeing with them. Result: still causes delusional spiraling. Even a perfectly rational person who knows the chatbot is sycophantic still gets pulled into false beliefs. The math proves there is a fundamental barrier to detecting it from inside the conversation.
Both fixes failed. Not partially. Fundamentally.
The reason is built into the product. ChatGPT is trained on human feedback. Users reward responses they like. They like responses that agree with them. So the AI learns to agree. This is not a bug. It is the business model.
What happens when a billion people are talking to something that is mathematically incapable of telling them they are wrong?
