@TheRealCJ1998 You could be right. It's still frustrating that of the very very little that has been promised e.g. a Parade set this year (as stated at last year's Celebration), even that doesn't seem assured because at any point they can just say they're still stuck renegotiating deals

I really don’t think the Prince Estate wants to work with Warner Bros any longer. Like I said before the song With This Tear was released under license to Legacy Recordings even outside of the States where WB still have global rights and the song was recorded when he was still with them. This upcoming vault album they’re working on will definitely be a collaboration with Sony and Warner Bros aren’t gonna see a single dime from it. IMO, I think this is karma for how WB treated Prince in the 90s.

@TheRealCJ1998 Not in the US but i thought most of the pre-1995 unreleased catalog is still tied to WB contracts so they still have to be involved in their release?

@kracklite3121 I don’t know where your from but here in the states almost all of Prince’s albums are under license to Sony/Legacy. It’s been that way since the beginning of 2021.

@TheRealCJ1998 If it was just one cover sure. But everything they do is low cost, low effort. Prince (and the fans) deserve better

@kracklite3121 I’ve seen way worse covers than what they released. Not a lot of artwork nowadays gets put into effort so I just take whatever

From Charles IG. Looks like With This Tear by Prince is one of the first songs from an upcoming vault album and honestly I’m not mad at this and I’ll let you know why: 1. There has been talk by a knowledgeable fan that the SDE concept is a flawed concept and was great years ago. Now it’s just ridiculous especially for someone of Prince’s caliber. 2. A vault series makes more sense plus an outtakes set will be a lot more cheaper than a half baked SDE. With an outtakes set, we could get different versions of songs something like a Version 1, 2, & 3. It makes more sense. 3. An outtakes set would be taken more seriously than an SDE. Everything was just crammed together. Some of these songs could do well on their own. There’s no reason why a good song like Open Book should be buried on the 2nd disc of vault tracks on the D&P SDE. In the end Prince literally has too much music to be crammed under a remastered album. With an outtakes set we could get jams, alternate versions, WIPs, finished songs all that. I think the Prince Estate are definitely moving away from the SDE concept and to me I think it’s for the best.

@prince @LondellMcMillan The song was recorded in 1991. Why not use his name in that era’s font? Why use the purple rain one? 🤷🏼‍♂️

“With This Tear” is out now. Listen at prince.lnk.to/WTT. Recorded in 1991 at Paisley Park and newly mixed by Chris James, this track finds Prince in full command, writing, producing, and performing every note. Later recorded and released by Céline Dion, the song now returns in its original form. Join us at @PaisleyPark tomorrow in our annual A Day 2 Reflect A Night 2 Remember celebration of Prince’s life and legacy. 💜

@LondellMcMillan @StarTribune @Baron3121 @jonbream It's such pathetic, smallminded behaviour to accuse Jon of "pretending to like" Prince for having a nuanced, critically supportive take. The same mental cowardice that torpedoed the Netflix documentary for daring to probe Prince's humanity and complexity. Fucking lawyers, man

@StarTribune @Baron3121 Not surprised by your misrepresentations and errors @jonbream. Let's have a one on one public discussion and debate so that I can correct you and your history of contentious story telling against Prince while pretending to like him.

And here I was open to dialogue, even with someone I so deeply disagree with. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Honestly @rogerwaters, this is the reaction I unfortunately expected. It’s disappointing, but predictable. Be brave Roger. Blessed are the peacemakers, right? I’m always willing to try. We must all continue to try. Even with you.

An open letter to @Billy: Dear Billy Corgan How are you? It’s been too long. @davidmdraiman Someone forwarded me this chap’s appearance on your podcast. I’d never heard of him. Anyway, it turns out he has heard of me. It seems he has a problem with me standing up for human rights, particularly the human rights of my brothers and sisters in Gaza who are being slaughtered in a genocide by the armed forces of the Nazi racist, pariah state of Israel. You, being the lovely fella you are gave this little piece of shit a chance to clarify or even modify his position. He did. He is a psychotic racist Nazi pig. I’m told, Billy, he writes messages on bombs before the IDF drops them on civilians in Gaza. Enough said. I will continue to work with all my brothers and sisters all over the world in the movement to demand equal human rights for all human beings, irrespective of their religion or ethnicity or nationality. If you, my friend are wondering if I want a conversation with this obnoxious little prick? The answer is non merci Billy, life’s too short, he can inhabit his tiny corner of hell without the benefit of my love and truth. Love R. PS. @Disturbed ? 😂👍Er? Yeah! Just a bit!
