Ever tried bargaining with a sketchy seller? Well, I have. For the rarest Labubu toys. It was the hardest negotiation of my life. When the stakes are high, it's hard to stay ahead. The Fireflies team talks with the toughest buyers and sellers on Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack Huddles, Discord, WhatsApp, FaceTime, even in-person. How do we survive? Introducing Live Assist! Live Assist gives you meeting prep, real-time suggestions, and live meeting notes so you can focus leading meetings that don't make people want to turn off their cameras. Oh and one more thing... we heard some of you think meeting bots are tacky and unprofessional. So we're introducing an alternative way. The Fireflies Desktop App is finally here which means you can get AI meeting notes without a bot! If you looked at Fireflies a year ago, or even six months ago, take another look. People from 800,000 organizations trust Fireflies. The summaries are smarter, the design is cleaner, and the experience is faster. It's been a lot of work, but I couldn't be more proud of what the team has accomplished this year. Stay ahead of every conversation. Start using Live Assist today on web, mobile, chrome, or desktop.

Sorry to see Granola @meetgranola going closed. They encrypted their local db, no local and no cloud API. In a world where notes are managed by agents, the app now has zero value. Any recommendations for good alternatives? What are you switching to?

@grok @pfly @grok @firefliesai now has a desktop app where the bot doesn't join and provides real-time suggestions which we call live assist and sales assist. This is in addition to the the meeting bot which 20 million people use today. fireflies.ai/desktop

Sent a wave of video conferencing agents to clients to collect testimonials. Clients thought it was super cool. Thank you @firefliesai for making this really easy.

@rajchudasama @firefliesai Hi our team will be in touch. It’s been raised. My guess is past meetings need to be deleted to clear up space as there are storage limits on the free and pro tier.

Hey @firefliesai team, I've been a user for a while and love the tool, but I've hit a frustrating issue since Tuesday: my storage is showing as exhausted, blocking access to recent calls including an important sales call. I've reached out multiple times for help, but there's no bulk delete option (deleting one-by-one isn't practical). Support has assured me multiple times they'd resolve it on their end, but nothing has changed yet. I even asked for a quick call to walk through it, no phone support. Could someone please prioritize this and help restore access? Happy to provide more details. Thanks in advance, hoping for a fast resolution!

seeing those fireflies ai being actual people joining your meetings posts and people respecting it instead of pointing out the privacy issues is making me lose faith in humanity

thank you for the clarification @bigpappabelly Fireflies CEO weighing in The company was formed in 2016 When we started working on AI notetakers there was no ChatGPT around 2017. In fact, the category AI Notetaker didn't even exist. We were one of the first. We were trying to bootstrap a human in the loop executive assistant service. We named our EA, Fred. One of the primary things EA's do was take notes. So we asked a few of our close friends if they would pay for an AI powered EA with humans assisting it in the backend. AI meeting summaries may seem easy now to build with off the shelf tech, back then it was a different story. We wanted share how hard it was back then and how we had to do things that didn't scale to find product market fit and pay rent in an expensive city like SF. When we actually coded the first version of Fireflies after that experiment it was and is 100% automated with really strict security and privacy in place.

@bigpappabelly @pbteja1998 @firefliesai I get that now the company was. Makes more sense. There’s just no need throwing names at people while trying to prove a point. It’s childish

Came across this post on LinkedIn... Turns out the first version of @firefliesai – AI meeting assistant – doesn't even have AI. It's just founder joining the calls, taking notes manually, and sending the summary back.

Fireflies AI CEO here with a quick clarification 👇 - This was back in 2017, before ChatGPT. - Early users were a few close friends. - Our friends knew it was human assisted. Manual labor showed us the problem was real before we wrote a line of code. The version of Fireflies you see today is: ✅ First AI assistants to earn SOC 2 & HIPAA compliance ✅ One of the few to offer dedicated private storage and no model training on customer data by default ✅1000% done by AI Wanted to clear up the confusion for everyone asking. No human can take notes for millions of people every day, 24/7. The real hustle was how Sam found a place in San Francisco for $750/month in 2017.
Rowan Cheung@rowancheung

This story is insane. The founders of Fireflies AI (now worth $1B+) pretended to be an AI notetaker before the tech existed. The founders would: > Join meetings on mute as "Fred from Fireflies" > Take notes by hand while sitting silently > Send the "AI-generated" notes 10 minutes later They did this for 100+ meetings to pay rent, before actually building the product that went on to become a unicorn.

You can’t teach accountability. I’ve learned that the hard way. It’s the #1 trait I now look for when hiring. I’ve been deep in interviews the past couple weeks, meeting hundreds of candidates across roles and departments. The best ones all have high agency. 1. They think like owners. 2. They anticipate problems before they happen. 3. They’ve taken things from 0 → 1 and have the scars to prove it. You can hear it in their voice. The conviction. The clarity. The speed of thought. If you’re an ex-founder or early hire who’s built something from scratch, I want to meet you. We all have that one friend who follows up, follows through, and never flakes after making plans. That’s called accountability. That’s the kind of energy I want to work with. If that’s you, DM me!

Agreed! Granola can't do speaker identification Doesn't do the audio or video recording which is why many people switch to Fireflies.ai And what about consent? Not a good look if there's 50 different copies of a meeting silently recorded without you being informed. I get the aeathetics part of notetakers in meetings but atleast you are aware it's happening. If growth strategy was such an issue why would ecommerce sites have "powered by shopify" Also best for someone to disclose they invested in granola before giving biased takes.

@tobi One issue with Granola (not sure if I'm missing something or there's an update) and most local running note takers is that they don't seem to record raw video from meetings as well. Transcripts and summaries are great, but often times I want to go back and re-hear sentences

I’m actually very pro meeting recording and ai summarization. But I’m not ok with bots joining as fake humans accomplish this. It’s a meeting between you and me. Not you and me and some startup’s viral growth strategy. Granola is great. Gemini does this well in Google Meet. Hyprnote is great and fully local. But use them with consent. My tweet is about how ridiculous and self important it looks when you show up to a meeting with random bots as entourage.

Jordi says he forces AI note takers to wait in the Zoom waiting room, and never lets them in when one of them tries to follow a participant into the meeting. "I never let them in. I just let them sit there...'Oh, I forgot, sorry.'"

Having some AI follow you into your zoom meetings or google meet for taking notes is the digital equivalent of showing up to a meeting with your fly down
