Oh my word. I was just targeted by one of those, "Were you born in this year (X)? Here's a free hearing aid!" advertisements. I mean, I did go to some pretty deafening concerts in my twenties, but have I really reached the age of hearing aids? Really?

What I see in Acts is a lot of surprise. They expect communal life in Jerusalem, they are surprised & flee from persecution. Phillip is surprised by the opportunity to preach to the Ethiopian. Peter is surprised by his vision and by Cornelius' household. God leads. They follow.

@KSPrior There is something to be said for the medieval style of higher education: learn all you can for three years, and then face one examination which may test you on anything. Viva - no AI. Of course, it's never going to happen when parents are paying for their child's piece of paper.

Jen Lyell was one of the SBC abuse survivors I profiled back in 2019. At the time, Jen was a Lifeway VP and had only recently come forward with her testimony. I've seen the toll her case has taken on her ever since, yet her insistence on change in the SBC. She died Saturday.

David Bebbington, Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Stirling in Scotland @StirUni and the world’s pre-eminent historian of international evangelism, spent the day at College on Friday, interacting with students, presenting at a public discussion on “Writing Evangelical History” and exploring the richness of the Rare Book section of the Donald Robinson Library.  "We thoroughly enjoyed Professor Bebbington's visit," said Head of Church History, Mark @Earngey. He added that, "As evangelicals, it is important that we learn our evangelical history. David Bebbington treated us to just that, and in spades."

@WendyAlsup I appreciate the truncation of "theo". To me it suggests less: less knowledge than they think. Less understanding. Less than truth. If they were humble to expand their understanding, they might one day reach Theology. But for now, incomplete.
