@oswaldomike18 @Raystar_fresh @_OKJ__ most debates of dawkins/hitchens were against protestants, often biblical literalists. the real scholastic tradition embodies traditional western philosophy and metaphysics. See current figures like Ed Feser, Classical Theist on youtube.

Christianity is a really funny religion, man… Imagine thinking that whatever it is that created this majestic and possibly infinite universe, in all its complexity, scale, and structure, impregnated a Jewish girl somewhere in Palestine 2,000 years ago,can get jealous of other gods, can regret its actions, can command one tribe to commit genocide against another, endorses slavery, gets angry, thinks blood sacrifice is a rational route to forgiveness and creates eternal suffering for people who do not believe very unconvincing stories in a book. Think about how completely ridiculous that leap is. Christianity (and its little sister, Islam, which believes the language of this concept of a creator is Arabic…in light of the thousands of beautiful and rich languages on the planet) really is an insult to whatever majestic being created the universe, if there is indeed one. And images like these below actually solidify the position of atheists or the non-religious…in fact, it is exactly why they are atheists. The sheer majesty and complexity of the universe don’t push atheists or any rational, non-indoctrinated mind, for that matter toward religion…It often does the opposite. It highlights just how implausible and, at times, absurd many religious doctrines appear by comparison. Because they hold such a concept…that which would create this universe…to such a high standard, that organized religions and their books, when you read them, end up looking really, really silly.

@Pro__Trading that's not what people thought. people thought he was going to do precisely what he said : 'bomb them back into the stone age' IE. massive strikes on iranian energy infrastructure and water desalination. Mass destruction of the fundamental elements of the entire nation. fucktard

To the best of my knowledge, there are no tolls for natural straits in the world, just for man-made canals. UNCLOS prohibits them. Creating one for the Strait of Hormuz would establish a terrible precedent.

Beirut is an ancient city. A place I would've loved to travel and tour - from imperial roman to byzantine to the islamic golden age: it has much to offer. A place I will not be able to visit probably for years to come because Israel can't stop its bloodlust.

The US and Israel launched their war with Iran seeking regime change and the total destruction of Iran’s missile arsenal. 6 weeks later and the Iranian regime is in tact, it maintains a stockpile of missiles, and has seized control over Hormuz. Trump surrendered, Iran Won.

@oswaldomike18 @Raystar_fresh @_OKJ__ About what in particular? For scholastic metaphysics I’d recommend ed fester and his book 5 arguments for the existence of god or classical theism on YouTube. In regards to failures of new atheism see this: youtu.be/OsfXJ3dn6wk?si… Alex is most prominent atheist currently

@mark_slapinski initially it was to decapitate iranian leadership, with the hopes that the kurds who were armed by the CIA would rise up and help 'overthrow the regime', all so that a regime friendly to israel could be installed. that failed, and the US entered a serious debacle.

It's astonishing that you, a world leader who many respected for standing up to an illegal attack on your country, now support an illegal attack on another country. It completely kills your credibility. Right now. Iran is Ukraine. You may not like to hear that but that is a fact
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський@ZelenskyyUa

It is unfortunate that the UN Security Council has once again failed to demonstrate effectiveness and act decisively in the face of such a global threat as the Iranian regime's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. No one should be allowed to block such globally significant sea lanes or undermine the security of dozens of nations through terrorist attacks against the freedom of navigation. We faced a similar challenge in the Black Sea when the Russians attempted to block our ports and civilian shipping—Russia was trying to suffocate our economy. And we found a way to solve that problem through decisive action, not inaction. Now, we see a similar problem on a global scale. The Strait of Hormuz must remain open to all vessels that sustain vital economy lifelines and maintain normal international trade. Countries in the region have spoken clearly on this, and we support the aspirations of the people of the Middle East and the Gulf for peace. Peace and security in this region directly impact stability, market predictability, and the cost of living in every single country. Such problems and this war must not be prolonged. The world needs a functional UNSC that acts more decisively to resolve acute security challenges of global magnitude.
