I propose a Public Intelligence, an AI commons owned by everyone, composed of billions of local AIs, needing no permission to join and use, powered and paid for by users, trained on all the books and texts of humankind, operating at the scale of the planet, and maintained by common agreement. I would have headlined it “There is now very little doubt that Covid leaked from a lab”. There’s always a smidgen of doubt about everything. My spiked article on why scientists won’t debate an accident a thousand times worse than Bhopal. spiked-online.com/2024/09/10/the…

The prospect of cheap/free permissionless payments globally is what first got me interested in bitcoin and lightning. So happy to see Strike & Twitter rolling this out
Jack Mallers@jackmallers

I just published Announcing the Strike API Today, @Twitter enables free, instant, global payments for their users with their integration of the Strike API. What the internet did for communication, #Bitcoin + the Lightning Network is doing for money. link.medium.com/KwMP19g6Mjb

Tupac died 25 years ago this September. In the year prior to his death, Tupac had a creative run for the ages: 2 albums, 2 films, 12 music videos and songs for 6 posthumous LPs. His work ethic during the period (and motivation behind it) was incredible. Here's the story🧵

Marketing departments everywhere should be paying attention

7/ By buying a CryptoPunk, @Visa has effectively taken a red line item on the income statement, and turned it into a possible profit center. Read that sentence again. The implications of this are so massive, I think it's gotten lost on many.

This is a 🔥 thread that accurately taps into the perspective of cryptocurrency pioneers who became so disenchanted with the existing financial system that they built a new one from scratch that anyone can participate in

Why Wyden over Warner? Warner’s amendment protects traditional finance: intentional chilling of DeFi through bad regulation. Wyden keeps real world crypto devs in the United States. Do we want a strong America? We want the best software builders to stay.
Laura Shin@laurashin

@JStein_WaPo Both Wyden and Warner are consistent in that these networks and developers present a threat to traditional business, so Warner’s amendment kills a potential competitor while Wyden’s allows it to keep developing here in the US

Creating a high throughput transactional system isn't new or disruptive (just use PayPal). Having an uncensorable, non-confiscatable store-of-value that cannot be inflated is MASSIVELY valuable and geopolitically significant.
