@TheLaurenChen I used to be a size 4, now a size 14. Most days I don't eat breakfast or lunch, except maybe some nuts. If I eat breakfast, it's an egg bite from Costco. I eat dinner at maybe 600+ calories. I almost never exceed 1200 calories in a day all inclusive. I have obese genes.

At one point in college, I had an obese roommate. After a few weeks, she complained about how lucky I was to be thin, since I ate more than her. The thing is, however, that I absolutely did not eat more than her, in terms of calories or just amount of food. She put ranch on everything. 600 calorie drinks. Endless snacking. Maybe my plate was more full than hers at dinner, but it was obvious tp everyone but her that she was consuming more throughout the day. I'm sorry, but after multiple instances of this happening with other overweight people, I just don't trust when someone heavy insists they're in caloric deficit. Maybe some people lose weight faster than others. For sure. But it's simple science that if calories out exceed calories in, you WILL lose weight.

@anymanfitness I ate 1200 for 44 days straight. Measured and weighed everything. I gained weight. I wish was I kidding.

@deseretistan When my husband was about 45, he was asked to help a senior woman in our neighborhood move. She lived in a $1.5M home & owns a large company. The "move" included packing a full moving truck full of expired food storage. During the process, my husband broke his hand. Never again!

Story time. I moved to Utah in the 90s, many years before I joined the Church. A Mormon guy at work asked for coworkers to come help him and his pregnant wife move on a Saturday morning. I drove from Park City to Sandy to help him. I was the only one from the office who showed up. There were two of his friends there, which I guess were from his EQ. We go up to this guy's apartment--it's on the 4th floor, no elevators--and he's packed NOTHING. He has a few cardboard boxes and a clothes hamper to move all of his belongings to the U-Haul down below. It took the four of us ALL DAY in the valley heat to move this guy. At the end of it, we are exhausted. This guy's wife brings to us 2L of warm Walmart brand root beer and a tiny pizza. This guy isn't a pauper, mind you. He's a senior software engineer at our tech company. Lesson: I will do anything to help my fellow man, but I won't help you move.

@luxemiaa It can frustrating having different seats for the whole family on a flight...they should have prepared better by selecting seats close to each other.

This woman on Instagram shared: I’m at the airport and there’s a family of 8 people on my flight with small children, I just overheard the dad say, “All of our seats are all over the place, no one is close to each other because I didn’t want to pay extra for assigned seats. We’ll switch around when we get on the plane.” Suffice it to say, I hate them....

@BakedZnake @shesbonky Dude. That was the Boomers, not us. Here's a handy way to remember the difference. Boomers got drunk, high, and muddy at Woodstock. Gen-Xers were conceived at Woodstock.

@FrankWe4241605 @mphokeo @Mlu__N2 Disagree completely. It completely depends on the flavor profile of the Italian dish. Translucent for lighter dishes, slightly golden for ragus or other heartier meat dishes. Regardless, veggies first.

@krula @mphokeo @Mlu__N2 No. It depends on what you want to achieve. In Italian cuisine you usually just let it sweat, while in Spanish or south American cuisine you brown it to achieve a more intense flavour profile and darker colour.

I will never understand the rationalization of cooking the ground beef BEFORE the onions. Onions first!!

@mphokeo @Mlu__N2 Even if your intention is to sweat the soffritto or mirepoix in the beef fat, you would caramelize the meat first, strain out the meat, cook veggies first several minutes then recombine.

@Mlu__N2 Beef cooks longer than vegetables, otherwise you will overcook the vegetables. That’s how it should be done.

@KL56248955 @NYMag It made me laugh😂. They give accurate timeline of events and plausible details and every single time Netflix says that's 'categorically untrue'

Meghan Markle has low ratings … but at least her merch won’t sell?Honestly, there’s not a lot of good news in Variety’s report on the fraying of the Sussexes’ relationship with Netflix. nymag.com/intelligencer/…

@KL56248955 @NYMag Those same supposed "insiders" claimed for years that Netflix hated them and was firing them. Just months before the release of Harry & Meghan they claimed that the documentary was shelved indefinitely. Don't think these are anymore real or reliable than the insiders of the past.

@NYMag The sources are insiders at Netflix. Very smart move, Sarandos sent his minions out to speak then pretended he didn’t do it. Classic corporate maneuvers

@courtneyellis My (former) doctor did this before the ACA - and, if I had signed up, they would still bill my insurance for my visits. My retainer fee paid for access and an annual physical.

My longtime family doc in Nov: Exciting news! I am moving to concierge medicine! For an annual fee of $5,000 I can remain your primary care physician. (Sick visits extra.) My longtime family doc in March: So… I still have a few open spots, in case you want one.

@courtneyellis If sick visits are extra, what on earth do you get for $5k??! Unless you have a number of known chronic conditions, typically all you see the dr for is your annual well visit, an occasional routine test, and when you are sick.
