No single day passes without Muhammad (my lovely 3years old son) asking Allah SWT to give me money to buy a car. Amazingly, in the Ramadan on our way back from Taraweeh, he saw a parked car. As he always does, he said "Daddy Allah ya baka kudi ka sai mota". There were two women walking in front of us, they were delighted and quickly said "aamiin, aamiin dan albarka". Ya Allah answer his prayers, my parents' prayers and that of two women and whoever pray for me...🤲

Barely two weeks after we had finally completed our bus in September, something happened that shook me. That night, I was already fast asleep, having tried to put my kids to bed but I fell asleep myself. Later, I woke up and realized something unusual: my husband hadn’t returned from work. That immediately set off alarm bells because it wasn’t like him to be this late. At that moment, my phone was charging at a neighbor’s house, and their generator had already gone off. I had no choice but to get up, go to the neighbor’s window, and knock politely. When the husband came out, I apologized profusely for disturbing them, and they handed me my phone. I quickly turned off airplane mode, only to realize it was already midnight. No sooner had I done that than my phone rang, my husband was calling. Unknowingly, he had been stranded along the road in Mowe. He had been heading home when suddenly the bus developed a fault. He couldn’t leave it there, not after we had poured so much money into it, millions to get it back into perfect condition. He explained that he had been trying to call me for a while, apologizing for the situation, but he couldn’t identify or fix the problem on his own. He told him there was no way he could leave the bus there; despite how exhausted and frustrated he must have been, he had to stay with it. We stayed on the phone for hours, talking and checking on each other, until around 3 a.m. I asked how he was managing, and he explained the reality: there were vigilantes around, but he couldn’t trust anyone. These days, buses can be stolen and sold in parts, and leaving it alone would have been too risky. So he stayed inside the bus for the night. When he finally came home in the morning, he told me that it had been the first time in a very long time that he had cried. The night had been physically exhausting, mosquitoes had bitten him badly but there was nothing he could do. It was a night of patience, caution, and vigilance. Fortunately, that morning he called the mechanic, and they were able to fix the bus. Since then, it has been running perfectly. That experience taught me just how much resilience and determination my husband has and reminded me of the value of staying calm and vigilant, even in the toughest situations.

Some men speak with so much certainty about never sleeping outside their homes. Life can be unpredictable, I hope they never have to learn that the hard way.

Shia are muslims. Otherwise, they can declare you sunni as kaafir as you declare them kaafir too on basis of sect, not kalima. If they are brainwashing you, dont brainwash yourself. Sectarianism as it stands is a mild cancer to islam, we all know the main cancer and enemies.

There should be no second chance for poor performance in governance. Anyone who failed to deliver at least 60% of their statutory duties & campaign promises should be kicked out. Even those that have delivered the 60% but you see someone that can deliver 80% with certainty, please go for it. No politician is doing anyone a favor. They're not using their family wealth to do anything. It is out taxes and common wealth. As Nigerians, we deserve to be led well and we reserve the rights to choose who we want. #CallForGoodGovernance

There’s no second chance for bad governance. If you can’t deliver at least 40% of your campaign promises in 4yrs tenure, just find your square root elsewhere.

Nigerians are in the comments complaining about how poor their salaries are, and rightfully so. But when it’s time to get involved in the decisions that shape those outcomes, tribe and religion suddenly take over. It’s strange how people can be united by hardship, yet divided by identity, even when those divisions don’t actually change anything about their reality.

Sometime last year, my neighbor died of cancer. She was a very nice Muslim woman that always gave me a package every Eid. She ran this small provision store close to my house where I was a regular customer (still am). I drink a lot of bottled water, so I was regularly giving her packs of empty bottles weekly. That’s how we got close. During every Eid, she’d package meat and chin-chin for me. And they were all packed in a signature way. Yesterday, during Eid, I randomly went to the provision store to get something and I met her first daughter. Just before I left, she asked me “we’ve not cooked yet, but there’s chin-chin. Should I bring some for you?” I wanted to kindly decline when I remembered her mother. The request also took me by surprise because her mother never asked me. She just asks me to wait and return with my package, adding it to whatever I was buying. So I accepted and waited for her to bring it. When I got home and peaked inside, it was the same signature package, in the exact way her mother used to pack it. I smiled and wrapped it back. This was yesterday. I’m currently eating from the chinchin and you won’t believe it when I say it tastes exactly like what their mother always gave me. It’s even logical to think this her daughter was the one making the chinchin all along lol. But as I’m currently snacking on it, this woman has been on my mind. I’ve simply been unable to shake off all the memories. How we always had random conversations when I go to her shop. We spoke so well all her children know me till date. I remembered how I always go to get my injections from her and hear the motherly worry in her voice if I come back too soon. I even remember having the same worry when she fell sick and she kept assuring me she’d soon be back. Sadly, she didn’t make it. She was also one of the people that helped me settle into this neighborhood when I first got here. After her demise, her daughters took over her business, and it’s been running smoothly. If I, someone she knew for only 2-3 years, still randomly think of her this way, I can only imagine how her children must feel. I pray God continues to guide them and give them the strength to keep carrying their mother’s love and legacy. I’m also reminded to keep being someone people will remember the good I brought to their lives when I’m no longer here.

Ramadan has just concluded, and I’ve emerged as a changed person. Fasting wasn’t just about abstaining from food; it was about depriving my ego, curbing my desires, and discovering that true strength lies in quiet persistence and unassuming power. In the solitude of hunger, I found clarity. In restraint, I found control. In prayer, I found peace. O Allah, please don’t let me lose the insights I gained during this Ramadan. May this experience not be a fleeting moment, but a transformative journey. Eid Mubarak 🤍

I’m not married oo, but I recommend buying gifts for your wives or giving them money after Ramadan. Atleast to appreciate them for waking up at early hours to prepare sahur and entering the kitchen by 4pm to prepare iftar. May Allah bless our hustles and replenish our pockets🤲🏽
