Catholic Twitter needs to take a break. These photographs mark the happiest day in Josie’s life. She chose to serve God in a way her Church allows. To those Catholics who would tweet “come home” and think it sufficient: if you truly want to evangelise, try living in Christ. Faith, hope and charity. Not mockery, ridicule and insults. It is easy to tweet “come home”, it is far more difficult to demonstrate why your home is a better place than where one currently resides, especially if you produce such little good fruit. No, I do not recognise Josie’s orders. Even as an Anglican I would not have. But there is no need to publicly mock and ridicule her, or turn her celebration into a viral tweet. It is uncharitable and unjust. Instead, appeal to the Church of England to repent for having the audacity to believe it can unilaterally decide to ordain women. Call on the bishops to repent for disregarding both Sacred Scriptures and Sacred Tradition. The job of the Christian is to disciple the nations. Tearing into a young Christian woman on social media is not going to advance the Kingdom. If anything, you will turn people away from the Church.

Vigano has written: "Before my Brothers in the Episcopate and the entire ecclesial body, I accuse Jorge Mario Bergoglio of heresy and schism, and I ask that he be judged as a heretic and schismatic and removed from the Throne which he has unworthily occupied for over eleven years. This in no way contradicts the adage Prima Sedes a nemine judicatur ["The First See is judged by none"], because it is evident that, since a heretic is unable to assume the Papacy, he is not above the Prelates who judge him." Remember this kind of stuff when RC's claim sola scriptura is to blame for, well, everything.

@Protestia Catholics, even IF Mary is so special to you, could you not be so "imagery" & honor her a bit more subtly? Mary in the scriptures seemed so humble and quiet, could you at least consider how she'd feel if she saw all those crowds prostrating b4 those highly ornated statues?

Ok, riddle me this: Average church size in America is 65 people. Average family size in America is 2.53 people. That would mean the average church has ~25 families. The median household income in America is 68k. Reports vary, but the average church-going Christian tithes 3.75% of their income. 68k*25*.0375 = $63,750 How can a church of this afford a FT pastor + cost of operating a local church? In my view, there are 5 options (and likely more). 1. Reach more people. 2. Disciple people to give more. 3. Reach richer people. 4. Consolidate smaller churches 5. Have a part time or volunteer pastor. What do you think? What did I miss? What am I not seeing?

@ChirpnChickadee @pqrst101 @HwsEleutheroi You dont need to be a sinner to receive grace? Eph 2:8 2 Cor 12:9 Heb 4:16 Ro 6:14 1 Cor 15:9~10 Ro 5:15-17 Titus 2:11 Ro 3:24 The very purpose of grace is SALVATION. Please dont tell me you're talking about "grace" as in elegance & beauty.

@kryptoketo @pqrst101 @HwsEleutheroi No one can acquire Grace, apart from what is given by God. It simply means that God is the one who perfected her in grace, in the first place. It does not mean that one has to have first been a sinner to be given grace.

@ChirpnChickadee @pqrst101 @HwsEleutheroi You didn't answer my question. How could Mary be sinless? If she was "perfected in grace", that means she needed grace in the 1st place, why? Coz she was a sinner just like us! If she was sinless like Jesus, she'd not need grace. Jesus NEVER needs grace from the Father.

@kryptoketo @pqrst101 @HwsEleutheroi When the angel Gabriel addressed her, he called her “Kecharitomene” (as written in the original Koine Greek). Rightly translated, it means “one who has been perfected in grace,” meaning that it was something that had already happened in the past tense.

@kryptoketo @pqrst101 @HwsEleutheroi Exactly. Mary is the perfect saintly example of one who was 💯obedient to the will of God, as she said “let it be it done to me, according to thy word.” She always points us to her Son, as she says “Do whatever He tells you.” Her cooperation untied the knot of Eve’s disobedience.

@pqrst101 @HwsEleutheroi Yeah, totally. Luke 11:27-28 one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed." But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it."

@HwsEleutheroi Jesus had the greatest Marian devotion. And she was arguably the most devout follower of Jesus. Neither one is threatened by the other. Devotion to Mary isn’t worship. Mary’s mission is to help bring people to her Son. Why would any real Christian oppose this?

@medinaimages @justsomeonez123 @HwsEleutheroi Mary is worshipping and giving glory to God in heaven, so do all the saints. That's what you do in heaven, the only one thing that's worth doing but you can't do it perfectly and incessantly here on earth until you are glorified in Christ.

@Protestia The RCC thinks too highly of Mary's importance. Satan tempted Eve (and succeed) and tempted Jesus (but failed). No where in the scripture says Satan tempted Mary. Mary was conceived by the Holy Spirit not for the glory of her, but for the glory of God.

@anglocatholic24 @whpub @OpStCyprian The ark is a type of Jesus. So is Abel, Melchizedek, Jonan etc. Mary is NOT even a type of Jesus, why was she sinless (from birth) before birth of Christ?

The early church thought Mary was sinful. That's what I learned from the early writers. Intellectual honesty demands it. Tertullian AD 235: "When denying one’s parents in indignation, one [Jesus] does not deny their existence, but censures their faults.  …  in the abjured mother there is a figure of the synagogue, as well as of the Jews in the unbelieving brethren" (On the Flesh of Christ, chapter 7) Origen AD 254: "If she did not suffer scandal at the Lord’s Passion, then Jesus did not die for her sins. But, if ‘all have sinned and lack God’s glory’ … then Mary too was scandalized at that time." (Homilies on Luke, 17.6-7) Hilary AD 360: "If this Virgin, made capable of conceiving God, will encounter the severity of his judgment, who will dare to desire this judgment?" (Tract in Ps 118) Basil AD 379: "The Lord was bound to taste of death for every man — to become a propitiation for the world and to justify all men by His own blood. Even you yourself [Mary], who hast been taught from on high the things concerning the Lord, shall be reached by some doubt. This is the sword." (Letter 260.9) Chrysostom 397 AD: "So likewise on this occasion too, He both healed the disease of vainglory [in Mary], and rendered the due honor to His mother, even though her request was unseasonable." (Homily 44 in Matthew)
