@golf52 @racingblogger He’s a racing blogger, he makes money from content. Betting big gets him more views on his videos , making more money. The bets should pay for themselves/ generate profit even if losing, at least partially. Also sponsors.

@TJiMTS You just made this up. The UK gov said they can’t rescue as it’s too dangerous , not that they don’t want to pay. You’re just regurgitating twitter slop for views.

UAE: 5bn spent in 2 days on defending non citizens who don’t pay income taxes UK: we can’t rescue our citizens from a war zone because it would be expensive and they don’t pay income taxes I wonder why they left 🤔

@ktfbtc @CFChasbulla @AMG_season_1993 @wbahazz I dont need to provide any evidence since you can just easily google it in 30 seconds but alcohol is neurotoxic, can cause liver damage, can cause arrythmias and heart disease etc. Ofc an occasional 2 pints once a week probably wont do that but most people drink wat more

Unless your getting hammered or celebrating an occasion, drinking is such a pointless sport. Baffles me why people come home and have a pint or a glass of wine on a weekday. Just makes you feel like shit and you need a lot to feel the effects properly.

@makhszn @CFChasbulla @AMG_season_1993 @wbahazz I think I’m capable of defining the impact of alcohol on myself thanks. Can you provide any evidence that an occasional 2 pints of beer “damages your organs” or are you just making things up (I think you are). Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean others don’t btw.

@CFChasbulla @AMG_season_1993 @wbahazz You can go out and not have a drink?… But people choose to go out and drink because the side effects enhance their experience in terms of mood, feeling , social barriers etc… is this what you’re asking?

@CFChasbulla @AMG_season_1993 @wbahazz The same effect that drinking loads of pints does , but not as intense. Why is it assumed there are only 2 states “not drunk” or “hammered”. There is an in between….

@JerryMartynCo @hoosiermomlove @fitbrickbybrick @mara_yamauchi No I have no faith in human nature , hope that helps. You’re right , it’s not a UKA sanctioned race , so who cares? The grading at parkrun is useless anyway because people walk and run slower to run with friends (I do).

@ktfbtc @hoosiermomlove @fitbrickbybrick @mara_yamauchi They might still lie, but have you no faith in human nature? They are human you know. Most will follow the rules for the event, even if they don't like them. Sex testing measures are unlikely to ever be implemented at parkrun, nor should they be as it isn't a UKA sanctioned race.

At least 13 males ran in the Female category in UK parkrun today. One got 1st Female, bringing his total haul to nearly 90. He managed 1st Male once in nearly 5 years running in the Male category. Another got top in age category & 2nd by age grade %. He already holds…

@hoosiermomlove @fitbrickbybrick @mara_yamauchi Wtf are you on about ? You do realise we’re talking about Parkrun , the volunteer run based in the United Kingdom? There are no “veteran” categories you loony

@hoosiermomlove @fitbrickbybrick @mara_yamauchi 1. You said “tell” men to stop registering as woman , we said they’d lie. 2. ID won’t work if changed post transition only birth certificate that has assigned birth gender can work. 3. It’s a free event ran by volunteers , so won’t happen. Anything else ?

@fitbrickbybrick @mara_yamauchi Dont bother haha , I tried to reason with them they this endeavour turns parkrun into a fee paying competitive run instead of a free community activity but their heads are too empty to comprehend.

@mara_yamauchi What’s the solution for this Saturday morning fun run? Everyone has to provide photo ID with their sex and age? Everyone gets a bib number and more organisers to make sure no course shortcuts? Chipa? Let’s start charging so we can make sure this fun run is ABSOLUTELY fair.

@Debbbooo @jan_murray I stated that I judge people will not tell the truth, not that I am against people telling the truth. I’m obviously stating the logistics of this idea at a free volunteer run will not work. Also caring about gender grading at parkrun is hilarious to me.

I’ve been involved with parkrun for over a decade now - both as a runner and a volunteer - so I speak with some authority when I say the “it’s just a fun run” argument really doesn’t stand up. I’m speaking in a personal capacity here, but the most common queries I deal with as a parkrun event director are about times not being recorded correctly against participants’ names. That can happen for all sorts of reasons - forgotten barcodes, finish-funnel duckers, scanning glitches, you name it. And much as I hate doing it, I’ve had to say ‘no’ to people who achieved amazing PBs but didn’t bring their barcode on the day 🫣 (Thems the rules.) All of this tells you something important: participants care about times. And about fairness. That’s true across the field - not just for the front-runners chasing records, but those nearer the back too. Shaving a few seconds off a time, moving up a finishing place, improving an age-grade - these are all tangible markers of progress. Regardless of age, ability and fitness levels. They’re what keep many people coming back week after week, year after year. Which is precisely why sex categories matter too. Because if we accept that times, placings and progress are meaningful - and parkrun’s entire results system is built on the assumption that they are - then it also matters that people are being compared within fair, meaningful categories. Calling parkrun a “fun run” doesn’t change that reality. The data matters. And fairness matters - to participants at every pace.
Female runner@FemaleRunner

Thankyou for the amazing support from the Oxford @parkrunUK community this morning Like us, they don’t agree with the unfair @parkrun policy of allowing males to self-id into the female category If results are published and ranked in time order; they must be fair to all

@Debbbooo @jan_murray “We trust people to tell the truth” - sure that one will work out. Looking forward to the extra volunteer role “male to female transitioned but noted birth sex as female lookout”. And what about those already signed up? Banned until we fill out the form?

@ktfbtc @jan_murray Not exactly what you said at all. There is no suggestion that people need to bring their birth certificate 🙄 We trust people to tell the truth. If they don't, they are cheating, and parkrun invokes the protocols it already has to deal with cheats.

@Debbbooo @jan_murray So exactly what I said then? Unless you’re suggesting it’s just a tick box male or female” , in which those you have an issue with will simply lie on the form ?

@ktfbtc @jan_murray Asking and trusting people to either register their sex at birth, or prefer not to say. It's really very simple.
