I don't blame Connor for taking offence with that question. Steve Yzerman was ostracized for never winning the big one, too, when he was 30, and folks tagged him as a poor captain. Five years later, after he'd won three Cups, that sentiment looked mighty foolish. McDavid is only 29, and could play another 15 years if he wants to - he's that good. Won a Conn Smythe and Olympics MVP as well on losing teams - the only player in hockey history to do that. Connor will win a Cup...maybe several. He's generational.

The narrative around Connor McDavid right now is rightfully earned, best player in the league that cannot seem to lead his team past the finish line. McDavid has a lot of maturing to do , he needs to temper emotions and remain calm in situations, going 1 on 3 twice in a do or die game against the best in the world is not true leadership. As of right now McDavid is the best player in the league , but his reputation is that of a non winner, And that’s earned by him. I said what I said.
