So a club can sell its hotel to itself, sell its women’s team to itself, but West Brom are punished, they believe, for legitimate “in-kind” donations to the Albion Foundation, its charity partner that saves lives. Albion also believe the alleged PSR breach is “less than £2m”

@kulaB70 @lufcgilly @James18209464 @henrywinter Accounts were submitted 1st March. 6 weeks to review and charge, 3 weeks to prepare arguments, and then a 2 day hearing with a decision the next day. Don't see what else they could have done with the rules stating that the penalty had to be applied this season...

Without the written reasons it is premature to judge. I also stand by, if you are within £1.2m of the PSR cap, you are asking for trouble with the interpretation

Club club are saying that the rules have been changed without there being any evidence in the public domain that this rule change materially impacted the decision

I just really don't like Journalists jumping to conclusions and I think the suggestion that they have been punished, purely due to charity donations is a willful misdirection

@Samwinton99 @lufcgilly @James18209464 @henrywinter as I said they have been hammered this season for their actions so no face to save, CFRU they go by rules which the EFL changed so deducted. WBA are saying that using donations to the foundation is not a deductible cost, changing after the event

I am saying that they are not sharing the whole truth such as why the CFRU felt that any change in the rules was not relevant or not adequate mitigation

Any reasonable non-biased person should recognise that and expect it not to be the whole truth

Id expect the fans to buy it. I find it disappointing that respected journalists rush to judgement without seeing written reasons

@kulaB70 @AliJones9 Peace did what was best for him - as any businessman would. He got a ridiculously high price but good for him. His years of ownership were great for him but they were also good for the club.

Article also mentions appointment of John Pelling to "troubleshoot finances on short term basis". He's worked at numerous troubled clubs like Wednesday and Bolton and is "vastly experienced in PSR" Perhaps breach was unavoidable, but we're in good hands with Pelling

My take away from this is that someone at the EFL has royally fucked up. How can this be left so late into the following season to be brought up and charged? How can we have advisors FROM the EFL working with us day to day to stay under and we still breach it? Situation stinks

@kulaB70 @WBAReport There is a point back in mitigation in the regulations already for the reducing losses season-on-season. It is a test, because the EFL now says it IS black and white.

@kulaB70 @WBAReport In the Leicester case, the Premier League wanted a much, much higher penalty but only received six. It was a complicated case with many factors. For WBA, it would be a simple case of being over the £39m threshold under EFL rules. The penalty is set out in the rules.
