I moved into a house with many people recently and we recently had an issue with the trash chore. My PM housemate put together a 2-page PRD for improving the system. Its so good.

Controversial opinion: Therapy is overrated. My friends in years of therapy seem to be the least happy… Isn't it in the therapist’s best interest to convince you that you are troubled so you keep coming weekly and pay for years to come…? At $250/session that's $13k/year.

its pretty surprising how little fiber is in the typical american diet vs. how much is recommended and how important it is

all this to say - eat your fiber! the recommended intake is 25 - 30g per day. some common sources are: - oatmeal - chia seeds - fruits like blueberries - vegetables

another reason fiber is important is because it can help lower cholesterol in the blood stream. the liver produces bile (which is partly made of of cholesterol) to break down fats. often, the bile is recycled back to the liver. if there is enough fiber in the diet, then the bile will attach to the fiber and be released from the body (via poop). this forces the liver to use up cholesterol in the body to produce more bile which reduces the amount of cholesterol in the blood stream

@zoink @nickcammarata I’ve noticed similar benefits by incorporating 1 cup of oatmeal + blueberries in my morning diet

@kunaljaydesai @nickcammarata sorry if tmi — primary benefit for me was faster transit time. found out i had sibo halfway through the year and it's kind of wild how much meat slows down processes / things can ferment

current moral conclusion: pro eating meat, v anti factory farming, anti animal suffering, not anti animal death, not anti farming, pro caring people, pro vegans, an amazing correlate for caring people

@nickcammarata independent of anything moral, going (mostly) vegan was a great health decision i made in 2023. seems everyone's body / needs are different though, and probably not right as a broad prescription
