I WAS TOLD ABACHA WANTED TO SEE ME. ~GEN ABDUL SALAM In his new book, former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, wrote: “On Monday, 8 June, I received a call very early in the morning that he (Abacha) wanted to see me. I quietly prayed that he would not send me to Togo where there was going to be an ECOWAS summit. I was tired of going everywhere. By this time, Lt-General Diya, his No 2, was in detention (over an alleged coup plot). I was effectively the No 2 man in government and I was always representing him at events. I told my wife I was not happy with the call because I didn’t want to travel to Togo. I told my orderly to pack my travelling bag and other personal effects. As I entered the bathroom, there was another call. I was told again that the Head of State wanted to see me. Out of frustration, I asked if I was travelling to Togo and the caller replied that it was on another issue. Because of the urgency, I didn’t wear my uniform. I wore a tracksuit and slippers and proceeded to the Presidential Villa. On getting to his residence, I was told he was in the office. I wondered why he would be that early in the office. As I was climbing the stairs, one of the guards informed me that Abacha said I should stay in the waiting room. What struck me was that anytime I went to see him, regardless of who was with him, I would still go in. ‘IGP BROKE THE NEWS OF ABACHA’S DEATH TO ME’ Abdulsalami was in the waiting room for a while and felt something was not right. After waiting for about half an hour, I reasoned that it was odd. Major-General Ishaya Bamaiyi joined me shortly after. We waited for about an hour. I decided to go and see Abacha by any means because I could not understand why I should be kept that long. To my greatest surprise, the door of the waiting room had been locked. I asked Bamaiyi if he was aware that we had been locked inside. Something kept telling me that something was wrong but I could not place a finger on it. After some time, the door was opened and the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, came in. He said: ‘Let’s go.’ We walked towards the residence and I informed him that I was told Abacha was at the office. It was at this stage that he informed me that Abacha was dead. I was shocked. I asked him what happened and he insisted we proceed first. He did not tell me anything else. When we got to the residence, I asked to see Abacha’s body. I was told it was inside. I entered the room and removed the covering. I was in shock at the sudden development. I prayed for him and left the room. Abubakar did not mention who locked him in a room. He, however, became Nigeria's Head of State.

🚨 Mele Kyari Breaks Silence Former NNPCL GCEO Mele Kyari says he is surprised by the Senate's decision to declare him wanted, insisting that he had already informed the committee that he was undergoing medical treatment outside Nigeria. The big question now is simple: If the Senate was officially notified, why the "wanted" declaration? If it wasn't, where is the evidence of the communication? Nigerians deserve transparency from both sides. #MeleKyari #NNPCL #NigeriaPolitics #Senate #OilAndGas #NigeriaNews

Praise be to Allah! At a university in Germany, they conducted a test on cows to determine the amount of pain the cows feel during slaughter, according to Islamic method through a process called EEG. They were monitoring the cow's brain electrical activity chart, and through it, they could tell whether the cow felt pain or not, and what the extent of the pain was? Surprisingly, they took the cow and slaughtered it for the test.... In the first 3 seconds, no change occurred in the brain electrical activity, and this is evidence that it did not feel any pain. In the next 3 seconds, the cow lost consciousness and fell completely asleep due to severe blood flow from the slaughter and the absence of the largest amount of blood from the brain. After 6 seconds, the EEG stopped the brain electrical activity, meaning that the cow died without any pain. Praise be to Allah, for the religion that shows mercy to animals even during slaughter.

🚨🗣️Spain Head coach Luis de la Fuente, on why he chose 8 Barcelona players for the World Cup and refused to choose any Real Madrid player. “Barcelona players were all outstanding this season, they won the Laliga and Spanish super cup this season, they have outstanding players like Yamal and Pedri in their squad, so I had to go for 8 of their players, because in football if you really want to go far, you’ll go for players that have good qualities not players that just play for big teams”. “Real Madrid players in the other hand were not outstanding at all this season, that’s why none of their players were selected, they didn’t win any trophy for the 2nd time in a row now, so we need to go for players with winning mentality and are ready to fight for the team, So our selection was base on merit and players that are ready to play for the badge, so the Madridstas shouldn’t take things in their hand and be offended for how things went, if they play well next time, they’ll be selected”.

EXCLUSIVE: In tell-all memoir, Gowon says the north believed Ojukwu knew about 1966 coup Northern military officers believed Chukwuemeka Ojukwu was complicit in the January 1966 coup d’etat and wanted to move against him, Yakubu Gowon, former military head of state, has revealed in his memoir. Gowon, who ruled Nigeria from July 1966 to July 1975, will present his memoir, ‘My Life of Duty and Allegiance’, in Abuja today. TheCable saw an advance copy of the book, published by the Havilah Group, Lagos. In the January 1966 coup executed by officers mostly of Igbo origin, key northern leaders and military officers were killed. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the prime minister; Ahmadu Bello, premier of the Northern region; Ladoke Akintola, premier of the Western region who was their political ally; and Festus Okotie-Eboh, minister of finance, were all killed. Zakariya Maimalari, a brigadier and the most senior military officer from the north, was also killed alongside many other northerners in the military. The coup failed and Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, a major general and the army chief, became the head of state.

‘OJUKWU REJECTED MY FRIENDSHIP’ The reverberations from the failed coup led to the counter coup of July 1966 in which Aguiyi-Ironsi was killed. Gowon, then a lieutenant colonel and army chief, was made the head of state after the countercoup led by northern officers. Ojukwu, a colonel who was then the governor of the now defunct Eastern region, refused to accept Gowon’s leadership, insisting that the most senior army officer, Babafemi Ogundipe, a brigadier, should have been appointed to the position. Gowon was a lieutenant colonel — two ranks below Ogundipe — when he assumed office as head of state. Joseph Wey, a commodore, and Adeyinka Adebayo, a colonel, were also senior to Gowon, and he was promoted to major-general and later full-star general within one year. “The case of Brigadier Babafemi Ogundipe was, however, not as straight forward because the course of the coup had made it obvious that he could no longer function effectively in the command-and-control structure of the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces. With the concurrence of the UK government, he was appointed Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the UK,” Gowon wrote. “Ojukwu refused my offer of friendship. By extension, he wilfully refused to recognise my leadership. He felt that the ‘normal’ protocol of seniority in service should have been upheld in selecting General Ironsi’s successor under the new administration, regardless of the circumstances by which I assumed power. Admiral Wey effectively persuaded former Supreme Military Council members to take cognisance of the situation and support my leadership, highlighting my ability to command respect from junior officers and my willingness to lead during a difficult time.” thecable.ng/exclusive-in-t…

In 1993, majority of the Senators wanted TINUBU to be the Senate President. Jagaban was already cruising to victory. However, this would affect MKO Abiola because they both came from the SW. Abiola wanted to run for President of Nigeria. Best option for Tinubu was to support Abiola's rival Kingibe in the primary election, Kingibe a northerner from the NE would be the political answer to Tinubu’s Senate Presidency. But Tinubu chose to back MKO Abiola and jettison his own ambition so that he would not be the hindrance to Abiola's ambition which was of larger value. Therefore, Tinubu stepped down from running just like he did for Buhari in 2014-2015 and also for Osinbajo thereafter. It is always easy for Tinubu to sacrifice his personal ambition for the larger Group ambition. In 1993, Tinubu became Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation and Finance. He supported Abiola to victory. Abiola won. And when Abiola's election was annulled by the Military, Tinubu stood firm till the end! He also ensured that the government he helped to install many years after immortalised Abiola and June 12! In 2014, Tinubu repeated same, this time around for Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari had given up openly on politics, having wept before the cameras because of the frustration he got from multiple electoral defeats. Tinubu travelled from Lagos to Kaduna to meet Buhari and both formed alliance. That alliance saw Tinubu, the strongest politician and tactician in the alliance sacrificed all his numerous personal ambitions and gave Buhari, APC his ALL. That sacrifice almost ended his political career but JAGABAN is a man of strength, faith and conviction. When everyone in the political cycle was looking at him as a goner, he was starring Victory in its face. Tinubu’s eyes dont see defeat, never! Now, a thrift that Tinubu made in 1993 was collected with interest by him in 2023 when Gbajabiamila also decided to jettison his own speakership for Tinubu’s Presidency. Lawan, a northerner from the NE would have been his bet had it been that Gbajabiamila is a selfish politician. But as a son of the JAGABAN, he cannot behave less. He acted exactly like his political father. The hallmark of party politics is SACRIFICE, and this is exactly what is lacking among the politicians today. They want to be like TINUBU but they hate to sacrifice their ambitions for the time being! Good Afternoon to All Progressives Only ❤️

If TINUBU asked you to step down, step down! Tinubu has stepped down for many people in the past too. As a sitting Governor, he asked himself to step down his senatorial ambition for Ganiyu Solomon and he stepped for Solomon. In 2015, he told himself "Step down for Osinbajo" and he stepped down! So, he's not asking you to do what he cannot do. When he was like you, he was busy stepping down so that the party can step up!!! APC's strength of today is majorly derived from Tinubu’s Stepping down Ability! If TINUBU asked you to step down, step down!
