@ireallyhateyou I read some of Dahl's books to my kids. (Some are fantastic, some too creepy). Then I read his autobiographies (Boy and Going Solo) and realized he was brilliant and talented, and someone very special.

I just had a depressing thought about this brilliant book review by Roald Dahl. This piece completely changed Dahl's life and legacy. After this, he would automatically be branded an "antisemite" forever. This must be considered when reviewing anything he did or say after this article. Today's circulation of the Literary Review, the journal where Dahl's piece was published, is approximately 80k readers. Back in 1983, I assume it was much less. My quoted post received almost a million views. Many people also shared the journal clips independently across social media. So it is highly likely that more people read Dahl's piece in the last 48 hours, than back in 1983. A few people just decided, at the time, to brand him an antisemite because of it, and the rest of the world just followed. This is how a person's fate is decided in this twisted world.
