@ScootersBaba @CourtneyRCronin The rule literally says General Manager, his title is General Manager, and he will be doing exactly the same job as every other General Manager across the league. The Falcons even said so themselves.

@kurttalert @CourtneyRCronin The job comes with more responsibility, greater freedom with decision making, a better paycheck, and the ability to put "General Manager" on his resume. But in the end, he will report to Matt Ryan, who has the authority to say "No", not the owner (Blank) or the CEO (Beadles).

No. Per league rules, the Bears will not receive two compensatory third round picks because Cunningham is not being hired by Atlanta as the primary football executive. That position was filled by Matt Ryan.
apostolos@apostol74131889

@CourtneyRCronin Does this mean the Bears get an extra pick in this years draft ?

@CourtneyRCronin Then sue them. They’re the charter franchise of the league. Goodell doesn’t want that smoke.

From what I have been told, this isn't something a team can appeal.
Kurt@kurttalert

@CourtneyRCronin The rule *explicitly* states the title General Manager. Matt Ryan has literally zero experience as a football executive in any capacity. Ian does. Ian will be making the football decisions. The Bears should appeal, and they should win.

@CourtneyRCronin Clarifying what Primary Football Executive means by specifying GENERAL MANAGER and then arguing, “woah woah woah, we didn’t actually mean THAT kind of General Manager” is some Grade A bullshit. Words mean something.

@NondescriptCube @AllGrit313 @2KEVlN Even if they wanted to- he doesn’t have to accept that if he doesn’t want to stay in Detroit. He can leave and take that same promotion elsewhere.

@AllGrit313 @2KEVlN That’s simply not how it works. You can’t force a promotion on him to keep him in Detroit. He’s a position coach there. That’s it. He is free to take a coordinator job elsewhere, and there’s nothing Detroit can do to stop him.

@2KEVlN I couldn’t imagine the Lions would let him walk. He’s under contract and will likely be our next OC. We have dibbs if we want him. Your source must be Adam Rank. 😆

@c_f_89 A few spots for sure, but a few games as interim isn’t gonna be enough to impress me more than the larger sample sizes we have of Johnson, Coen etc.

@GBraggsJr23 I wouldn't be shocked to hear that some of the titles these guys had/have were name only. Suspect it's one of those "sign here instead of team X, and we will call you something better than just a position coach" things. My guess is this will be a bigger change than many expect.

The #Bears just released offensive lineman Nate Davis. General manager Ryan Poles signed Davis to a 3-year, $30 million contract, and the interior offensive lineman played just 805 offensive snaps since signing with the Bears. Davis allowed 26 QB hurries and 35 QB pressures in his short time with Chicago.

@JohnnyGarciaSTL @HerbHoward411 Yes. Claypool hurt because you gave up a draft pick, but Davis ate a decent chunk of salary cap, took up a roster spot for 1.5 years, and prevented them from seeking a real solution at a position of weakness. And I have to imagine was a bum in the locker room- when he was there.

@NicholasMoreano I think Nate misunderstood the whole “if you don’t hear an offensive lineman’s name, he’s doing a good job” concept.
