Speaking at the Africa CEO Forum Presidential Panel yesterday evening in Kigali, I re-emphasised that Africa must put Africa first whilst creating opportunities for intra-Africa collaboration between our countries. Our continent cannot build scale by looking outward first. We must invest in one another, trade more with one another, build the corridors that connect our markets, ensure our innovative youthful population get the support they need, and give African businesses the confidence to expand across African borders. Nigeria’s reforms are not only about fixing yesterday. They are about preparing our economy to lead in the Africa of tomorrow. With AfCFTA, digital trade, shared infrastructure, stronger logistics, commodities exchange, and deeper private sector partnerships, we can turn Africa’s population and resources into real continental prosperity. The global risk and financial architecture must also give Africa a fair deal that recognises our local nuances and contexts. I thank my brother, President Paul Kagame, for his warm hospitality and for Rwanda’s continued leadership in showing what discipline, clarity and execution can do for development. Nigeria will continue to work with Rwanda and other African partners to build a continent that produces more, trades more, connects better, and competes with greater confidence in the world. Africa’s future will not be handed to us. We must build it, own it, and defend it together. ~ Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR

I had an important engagement with House of Assembly aspirants of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the secretariat in Ilorin, yesterday. I congratulated all the aspirants, many of them young people, for showing interest under the platform of the party. We are very proud of them for their readiness to contribute to the development of the state. The unprecedented number of people wanting to contest elections under the APC shows that the party is vibrant, democratic, and loved. The All Progressives Congress is the vehicle to come on board with. We have strong leadership at the national level. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is transforming our economy. That is why we have developments in our state. I urged the aspirants to continue to support the party whether they get the ticket or not. There are very limited elective positions. Whatever the outcome of the process is, all our aspirants are winners. Their efforts are well noted and will be rewarded accordingly by the party structure. We will hold further engagements with our aspirants to build better understanding and unity of purpose as we move closer to the election year. I thank Mr. President for his transformative leadership that has made the All Progressives Congress the credible platform to win elections in Nigeria. Let us continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts to take this country to greater heights.

TINUBU, KAGAME AGREE TO DEEPEN BILATERAL RELATIONS President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Paul Kagame have resolved to activate mechanisms to deepen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Rwanda. Upon arrival in Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum, President Bola Tinubu met with Kagame at the Urugwiro Presidential Villa. Both leaders emphasised the importance of reviving the Joint Permanent Ministerial Commission (JPMC), originally signed by both countries in 2021, as a vital platform for advancing their shared objectives. They further agreed that Nigeria should host the next meeting of the Commission. In reviewing consular matters, President Tinubu stated that Nigeria will seriously consider reciprocating Rwanda's 30-day visa-free status for Nigerians in the spirit of Pan-Africanism. The two presidents also discussed the activation of pending Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) in areas of tourism, Illicit Drugs, and anti-corruption—underscoring President Tinubu’s commitment to inter-African integration, mutual respect, and shared prosperity. Presidents Tinubu and Kagame exchanged ideas towards operationalising the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) between the two countries. The two leaders have remained steadfast in their support for this agreement. Nigeria, which last year established an air cargo corridor with Uganda Airways, is now in discussions with RwandAir to facilitate greater export opportunities for Nigerian businesses across the continent. The Africa CEO meeting begins tomorrow. Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy) May 13, 2026

Offa Local Government Clarifies Reports Surrounding TCN Substation Incident The attention of Offa Local Government has been drawn to various reports and commentaries circulating across social media and some online platforms concerning the recent incident at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) 132kV Transmission Substation in Offa. While the incident understandably generated public concern, it has become necessary to clarify certain misleading narratives capable of creating unnecessary panic and giving an inaccurate impression of the security situation in Offa and its environs. According to the official statement released by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Osogbo Region, the incident has been described as a robbery operation carried out by armed men who forcefully gained access to the control room of the facility during the early hours of Thursday, 7th May, 2026. The attackers reportedly tampered with some control switches and relay buttons while demanding a temporary shutdown of certain feeders within the station. However, normal operations were subsequently restored within a short period. From additional firsthand information made available through engagements with security authorities, management representatives, and personnel on duty at the facility, items reportedly stolen during the incident include mobile phones, a laptop computer, station CUG lines, a power bank, and cash. It is important to emphasize that security agencies have not classified the incident as an act of terrorism, hostage-taking, banditry, or kidnapping, contrary to some exaggerated reports currently being circulated online. Although personnel on duty were threatened during the operation, available information does not support several sensational narratives being promoted by some blogs and media platforms. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and other relevant security agencies have also assured the Local Government that proactive security measures have since been intensified across the area. Investigations are ongoing, while security operatives are working collaboratively to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for the criminal act. Offa remains a peaceful and law-abiding community, and we urge residents, as well as members of the public, to remain calm, vigilant, and confident in the efforts of security agencies. We also appeal to media organizations, bloggers, and social media users to uphold the principles of responsible journalism by verifying facts before publication, especially on matters relating to public safety and security. Offa Local Government remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property and will continue to support all lawful efforts aimed at sustaining peace, order, and stability within our community. We appreciate the swift response and continued commitment of the Nigeria Police Force and other security operatives handling the matter. Abiola Azeez Babatunde Chief Press Secretary To The Executive Chairman Offa Local Government
