My dad spent years calling me stupid. A doctor proved him wrong in front of 30 relatives. My whole childhood, my dad said I had “selective hearing.” Said I was lazy. Said I didn’t pay attention. Said I ignored people on purpose. If I missed my name being called, I got punished. If I answered the wrong question, I got mocked. If I said “what?” too many times, I got screamed at. Teachers thought I had attention issues. My dad said no. “There’s nothing wrong with her. She just doesn’t listen.” So I spent 18 years believing I was stupid. At a family anniversary dinner, I answered something wrong again and my dad did what he always did. Laughed. Mocked me. Turned me into the joke. But my aunt was there. She’s a doctor. She sat next to me, asked me a few questions, then handed me her earbuds and ran a quick hearing test. Two minutes later, she stood up and asked my dad: “How long has she had hearing loss?” He laughed. “She doesn’t have hearing loss. She just doesn’t pay attention.” My aunt looked him dead in the face and said, “She has significant hearing loss in both ears. Probably since childhood. She wasn’t ignoring you. She literally could not hear you. You spent 18 years punishing her for a disability.” Thirty relatives went silent. I looked at my dad and said, You didn’t want answers. You just wanted someone to blame.

She spent her whole career as a nurse racing down hospital hallways doing CPR. When she retired, she trusted a nursing home to take care of her. They weren’t supposed to give her solid food. They did. Doctors found scrambled eggs in her lungs. Her name was Doris Coulson. Her family sued for wrongful death. The owner never showed up to contest the case. A judge awarded them nearly $19 million. He never paid. While the family waited, that same owner was spending more than $1 million lobbying the president of the United States. It worked. Trump pardoned him. The White House called his prosecution “an example of over prosecution.” A top DOJ official declared him “free to rebuild.” His name is Joseph Schwartz. Prosecutors say he still has $58 million in assets. None of it is in his own name. Doris’s daughter Amanda fought for that judgment for years. Amanda has since died. Her family still hasn’t seen a dollar. When Schwartz briefly returned to prison on a separate state fraud charge, a lawyer for the family raced to serve him with a subpoena - one last shot to locate his assets and force payment. He was released within three weeks. The subpoena never reached him. There was a machinery working to shorten his punishment. There was nothing to help his victims. What do we call a system where a man can owe $19 million to a grieving family, spend $1 million lobbying a president, walk free — and still can’t be found to serve a subpoena?

The MAGA regime have quietly moved to evict hundreds of wild bison from federal grasslands. The endless cruelty and inhumanity from these fascist scumbags is absolutely fucking disgusting.

It should probably be a bigger story that Donald Trump offered John Fetterman a significant “financial windfall” if he switches parties and becomes a Republican. I know nobody bats an eye at the corruption oozing out of this White House anymore, but that’s fucking insane, and we shouldn’t ignore it.

Iranian forces fired on US warships and the vessels they were escorting. UU responded by destroying 6 Iranian fast attack boats. Iran is threatening a “new phase of the war” tonight, and US sources are saying US-Israeli strikes to resume imminently. What a Trumpster fire.

Family goes to court to sign self deportation papers—ICE oppose it and detain both parents instead. Mother and father now locked up miles away in different detention centers—separated from all 3 of their children. Parents are scheduled to be deported—status of kids unclear as 2 oldest are Honduran immigrants while youngest is U.S. citizen. ICE claims a prior order of deportation was in place—but the judge scolded them for not submitting any evidence to that effect. When the judge rescheduled the hearing—that's when agents swooped in. Mario and Mirna are asylum seekers who have lived in Gulfport, Mississippi, since 2021 after fleeing gang violence that killed a family member.

ICE arrested a 5th grader and 2nd grader at the school bus stop in San Antonio as their classmates watched in horror. Their stepmother was detained with them. The community at Alamo Heights Independent School District elementary is speaking out—no child should be locked away at the Dilley trailer prison. I am in touch with their father, Victor Labrador, and I plan on visiting with the family during my inspection of Dilley tomorrow. The family were asylum seekers and had valid work permits—what is happening to them is shameful.

Carrying a fetus to bury a baby is Texas’ motto. At 20 weeks Kylie Beaton’s fetus was diagnosed with alobar holoprosencephaly, where the two hemispheres of the brain don’t properly divide. Babies with this diagnosis are often stillborn or die soon after birth. Since Kylie wasn’t severely ill and because the fetus had a heartbeat Texas forced her to carry the fetus to term. Kylie and her husband tried to have an abortion out of state. However, the fetus’s head was enlarged due to its condition, and the only clinic that would perform the abortion charged up to $15,000.00. Kylie gave birth to Grant. The baby cried constantly and wouldn’t eat. It couldn’t be held upright as that would put too much pressure on his head. For four days Kylie watched Grant suffer, then she watched him die. Trump is happy he delivered the blow to Roe. Republicans don’t care one bit that Grant suffered. Cried in agony. They don’t care that Kylie and her husband will never recover from this ordeal. Republicans care about power and control. #DemsUnited #AbortionIsHealthcare

It’s pretty incredible how many people just… don’t understand strategy. Yes, the US largely kicked Iran’s ass militarily. Everyone knew that would happen. Meanwhile, Iran is still holding the global economy hostage and we haven’t been able to do shit about it.
WarMonitor🇺🇦🇬🇧@WarMonitor3

I feel like a lot of people are forgetting despite Iran closing the strait of Hormuz it’s military was completely helpless for nearly 2 months to stop the US airforce severely degrading it.

JUST IN: A Trump judicial nominee was asked point blank: is Trump eligible to run for a third term? Their answer: “I would have to review the actual wording…” Sen. Chris Coons then asked every nominee in the room to confirm the Constitution bars a third term. Silence. Every single one of them refused to say it. Trump is appointing judges who won’t affirm the 22nd Amendment to his face. Never stop connecting the dots.

I attended a forum for my open Congressional seat (MD-05) yesterday. The main issues were affordability, federal jobs, the war, and the SCOTUS decision on the Voting Rights Act. With 24 candidates, I was unsure who to vote for. Some had no experience, while others had experience but said nothing of substance. My district’s voters aren’t voting based on ideology or labels; they want someone who will represent their needs and bring back federal dollars like Congressman Hoyer did. I was disappointed that the highly endorsed candidate, Adrian Baofo, didn’t show up. People don’t forget things like that. Quincy Bareebe, the lady trying to buy the seat, was terrible. Harry Dunn, Harry Jarin, Rushern Bakern, and Nicole Williams did the best at the forum. The forum was informative and well-moderated, but there’s no clear frontrunner. This race is stressing me out.

Are you experiencing high gas prices and grocery prices? Are you having trouble paying your bills? If so, the President just made fun of you and thinks your concerns about affordability are “bullshit.” November is coming.
CALL TO ACTIVISM@CalltoActivism

BREAKING: A DC pollster just texted me “it’s over” after Donald Trump’s speech today where he called “affordability” a “line of bullshit.” There is not one Republican lawmaker who is up in 2028 that didn’t just shit their pants. He just gave Democrats the perfect ad.
