Lots of builders choose different touches, but I suspect people who are going to call this place home will enjoy it if you don’t.

The wealthy 1500-member Musqueam tribe, which claims all of Vancouver, is building 11 towers (some 56 stories) on an 11.7-acre waterfront site. This density breaks all the rules, but when you’re a court-supported racial oligarchy, you can do anything.

People need to do some homework. These are purpose built rentals. Significant below market unit to support not just underhoused members of the indigenous community, but also the population at large. Lots of young professions I knew keen to move in. This is going to be a lovely addition to a growing neighbourhood.

@kyulls @JimMcMurtry01 @ravioligurl Obviously, you aren’t involved with the construction of these monstrosities. Poorly built, little parking, huge reliance on city infrastructure and no asbestos city building codes, rest assured they will be future slums.

This is a big developer bail out. All of these condo units would have found their way to the rental market, at a lower cost, without the province spending a dime. There are real people to help as the housing market (hopefully) continues on a path to price normalization. This is the people who scrimped and saved and took on huge debts to buy into the dream of homeownership, and find themselves at the mercy of a dysfunctional market that policy failure is responsible for. But there is nothing for them. They don’t get a bail out. Meanwhile, we can’t seem to find the money for our education, health, and other critical provincial functions.

@JimChuong This is an erroneous read. It’s data from the Main Estimates. There have been some cuts, but this is only part of departments budgetary allotment. Roughly 20%. The rest of the money will flow.

Dear Khaled Shawwash of British Columbia's Teachers union, You justify the unions 40,000 teacher BDS resolution against Israel hoping this will lead to "Muslim Christian and Jewish children playing along the shore of Gaza". I remember being able to play on the shores of Gaza alongside Christian and Muslim children when I was a child. That was before the IDF and Israel handed the Gaza strip to Palestinian control. Since then, the only Jews to ever enter Gaza are Jews who were kidnapped from their homes and taken into captivity in the most horrific conditions. While Canadian teachers passing this anti-semitic resolution will not change anything for Palestinians, it will surely make Jewish Canadian students even less safe than they are already and educating a generation of Canadians to hate an antisemitism. I very much hope this decision is rescinded.
