No sane person within ZANU PF or the institutions of the state can genuinely find acceptable the level of extravagance and opulence displayed at the so called ‘wedding’ in a country bleeding from extreme poverty, collapsing public healthcare, unemployment and deep social despair. Such obscene accumulation of wealth is taking place while their own ordinary party members and the general citizenry survive on crumbs, abandoned by the very system they defend and campaign for. It’s a mess! #NoTo2030

RECEIVE THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ….“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts of the Apostles 1:8 This is Pentecost weekend, and we acknowledge and receive the power of the Holy Spirit. The disciples gathered in the upper room and prayed, and the Holy Spirit came upon them with power. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, may we also receive this power, strength, wisdom, and boldness this Pentecost weekend. Amen. Blessed Sabbath.

That moment when you look behind and see the Citizens’ President you were told by purveyors of hate and lies had relocated, quietly seated right behind you. Present. Calm. Unmoved. We will never abandon the people of Zimbabwe. The only relocation we are prepared to make is a relocation from the poorly governed Zimbabwe of ZANU PF to a NEW and GREAT Zimbabwe. An exodus from failure to hope. A CITIZEN -centered, NATION -centered, and GOD -centered government. That is the destination. That is the mission.

MY TAXI WILL NOT CONVEY CONTRABAND Let me address an issue of fundamental importance. As an advocate, I have a sworn duty, all factors held constant, to represent all persons. The oath I took, and the basis upon which I was admitted to practise, oblige me to protect liberty, life and limb without regard to political affiliation. In matters of liberty, life and limb, there are no political formations. That said, I have—owing to the awkward environment we live in—made a conscious and personal decision that there are certain individuals I will not represent and certain interests I will not champion. There are just people for whose benefit I will never prostitute my skill whatever the rewards. I’ve taken this position notwithstanding the cab rank rule. Thus, whilst my taxi will convey many; for reasons that are personal to me, it will not move contraband. This is my decision alone. It is not corporate, it is not collective, and it was not made on behalf of or in consultation with others. I expect myself to remain faithful to that decision, and I emphasise that no one has a right to impose it upon me as a demand. It is a personal commitment. I am aware that there are those who, quite legitimately, expect me to remain true to that choice. I do not intend to disappoint them. But I must stress, just as firmly, that this is my decision and not theirs. I believe Zimbabwe is under tyranny. I believe it is being misgoverned. I have dedicated my life to fighting the good fight for the liberation of my country. I do so out of conviction and for posterity. I do so in my personal capacity. The fact that I fight for the common good does not entitle anyone to drag my professional work into my political convictions, notwithstanding that I have also chosen, in my professional life, to draw certain lines.

Dear Rex, Your letter is eloquent, passionate, and loaded with disappointment. Fair enough. Citizens have every right to question leaders they voted for. That includes Nelson Chamisa. However, I think your frustration is aimed at the wrong address. Chamisa did not draft #CAB3. Chamisa does not control Parliament. Chamisa does not command the two-thirds majority being used to alter constitutional provisions. The people with direct agency over constitutional amendments are within your own party, ZANU-PF, and ultimately those in executive authority. You write extensively asking why Chamisa is silent. Yet where is the equally forceful open letter to those actively pursuing these changes? I recall Chamisa arguing there was effectively no constitution left to defend if constitutional safeguards can be altered whenever political expediency requires it. His argument, whether one agrees or disagrees, was that repeated amendments hollow out constitutionalism itself. If your concern is constitutional mutilation, then surely your first question must go to those holding the knife. Perhaps write to President Mnangagwa specifically. Particularly because public positions have shifted over time, from distancing himself from extension narratives to now presiding over an environment where supporters argue due process is being followed. If due process alone legitimises every amendment, then constitutionalism becomes a numbers game rather than a principles game. You voted ZANU-PF for MP and councillor, and Chamisa for President. That was your democratic choice. But democratic accountability demands scrutiny proportionate to power. Opposition silence deserves questioning. State power deserves even greater questioning. Because in the end, silence from the powerless and actions from the powerful do not carry equal constitutional weight. Zimbabwe deserves explanations from all sides, but especially from those with the authority to amend, extend, or reshape the constitutional order. Respectfully.

Those making noise in support of either of Zanu PF factions ( real or imagined) are agitated and concorting all sorts of allegations of perceived "capture" by the regime against the alternative. We see through their deception. We need wisdom than before.......

I’ll treat this as a mistake but if you do not delete your nonsense there will be consequences. This is beneath you. After withdrawing, go and apologise to the sorry tree that gave you the oxygen you used when writing these falsehoods.

The death of refreshing, informing, educative, neutral, sober, and progressive intellectual intervention in our body politic is concerning. Many Think Tanks have turned into Think 2liters. On the other hand, journalists now rely heavily on AI. Alcohol Intelligence!
