On Planet Timmy people on $25,000 have enough spare cash to generate $10,000 in capital gains. The minimum full time wage in Australia is $50,000. The All Ords is up about 5% over the past year. To make $10,000 you had $200,000 in shares or cash.

@Fackfascists @sspencer_63 My issue is the government is forcing me to liquidate if I don't want to get slugged with a 30% tax. I have unhedged ETFs so I have to wait for some exchange rates to change to maximise my profit. Not to mention it's a complete broken promise from the last election.

@lachlan_aus @sspencer_63 The changes don’t take affect until 1 July 2027. You’ve got more than a year to decide if it is in your best interest to liquidate before, or hold. Any gains prior to 1 July 2027 are still at the 50% discount.
