We must build grass-roots pressure for Canada to finally take a principled stand against the US blockade of Cuba. More voices are being heard, including the United Church, the CLC, Unifor, and more. Please sign this petition: petition.web.net/CanadaActNowOn…. #canlab

Many of the weapons that the U.S. has been using on Iran are partially made in Canada — including Raytheon’s Tomahawk missile, which was used to bomb the girls’ school. Cdn facilities contribute to billions worth of contracts with US Dept of War readthemaple.com/these-american…

Today I pressed the Liberals on their promise to protect Pharmacare agreements. Their response? After pledging to make deals with provinces, they’ve signed none—and now they’re planning to let pharmacare die. Canadians deserve a gov't that keeps its word and protects healthcare.

Thank you to the Air Canada Component of CUPE and Wesley Lesosky for endorsing my Bill C-247 to repeal Section 107 and protect workers’ right to strike. Last summer, CUPE flight attendants exercised their Charter-protected right to strike against the absurd practice of unpaid labour in the airline industry, but the Liberal Minister invoked Section 107 in less than 12 hours, siding with corporate executives to call off their strike. Rather than back down, flight attendants bravely defied the Liberals’ illegal attack on their rights, trailblazing in their resistance against the unconstitutional use of Section 107 that impacts workers everywhere. I’ve been proud to stand in solidarity with flight attendants to scrap Section 107. I am profoundly grateful for their leadership and support for Bill C-247. Visit my website to join the call to uphold workers’ constitutionally-protected right to strike by emailing your MP to tell them to vote YES to #BillC247.

Canada is working with global partners to get urgent aid to the people of Lebanon. The Jordan-led humanitarian bridge will deliver much-needed food parcels and tents to communities in need. We will continue to collaborate with international partners as this initiative builds on Canada’s recent $37.7 million commitment for life-saving humanitarian assistance.

Excellent reporting by @danbilicki on ongoing @FIFAWorldCup ticket scamming. "Many users on social media ripped FIFA for creating 'fake' demand for the tournament, while also ensuring that prices remain high. "Others were quick to note that this isn’t FIFA’s first use of the term “last minute” when it comes to ticket sales this year." I'm a soccer fan, but wish Canadian taxpayers weren't backing this greed-filled fiasco. #cdnpoli #bcpoli torontosun.com/sports/soccer/…

Minister @JoelLightbound and Canada Post plan to eliminate door-to-door mail delivery across Canada by 2030. They are starting by eliminating door-to-door service this year in some of the most underserved neighborhoods in the country, including in my riding of Winnipeg Centre. This will jeopardize access to critical public services across Canada and will lead to the slashing of good union jobs at a time of growing economic uncertainty. Today, I wrote to Minister Lightbound to call for an immediate reversal of these cuts to restore door-to-door delivery, investing in Canada Post as the critical service that it is. #HandsOffMyPostOffice

Marc Miller on the US demanding concessions before further trade talks: "It's not a surprise. It's not something that they haven't done before. And if we've seen anything from this administration, it's a highly asymmetrical way of negotiating."

A shadowy network of YouTube channels is targeting Albertans with AI-driven misinformation pushing separatism and the notion that Alberta would be better off if it became the 51st state in Trump’s America. This feels like foreign interference! #abpoli

Official trailer for ‘MÉXICO 86’ starring Mexican actor, Diego Luna. A chaotic story that follows Martín de la Torre, the man who found a way to rise to the top and bring the 1986 World Cup to Mexico by any means necessary. On Netflix, June 5. 🎬🍿

Also interesting is Bob Rennie’s June 2016 UDI speech “We Have to Change the Narrative”. It seems to have kick-started Vancouver’s YIMBY movement. Abundant Housing Vancouver was founded later the same month.

Below are some extraordinary quotes from Vancouver 'condo king' Bob Rennie from as far back as 2011. Rennie's comments make clear the Urban Development Institute knew exactly what was going on with the "breathtaking" amount of money flooding into Metro Vancouver real estate from China. In this scholarly article researchers discovered Rennie was publicly saying 15 years ago: - 90% of homes being sold on Vancouver's side "are sold to Mainland China." - Vancouver's housing prices would be average, not extremely unaffordable, if it were not for China money. - Speaking to developers, Rennie says, "Possibly everyone in this room benefits directly and indirectly from those... Mainland China buyers." - "Greater Vancouver (housing) is predominantly an equity play and not an income play." One big problem? Criticism of this flood of offshore money was met with 'insinuations of racism.' These quotes and observations were put together by scholars Joshua Gordon, David Ley and @Ayan604 in their ground-breaking 2024 article, "Crafting the Narrative: Wealth migration, growth machines and the politics of housing affordability in Vancouver, Canada." #vanre #vanpoli #bcpoli #cdnimm @ronmortgageguy tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.108…
