Prof. Krishnamurthy V Subramanian
My journey would not be possible without @Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar Ji’s inspiring guidance. Serendipity brought me to Him. Within weeks of beginning my PhD at the @UChicago, a friend who had worked with me at @ICICIBank (then ICICI) emailed me how much he enjoyed the @ArtofLiving course. I was feeling bad thinking I should have done it in India, wondering if I could do it in the US. Clouded with those thoughts, I walked out of my PhD office to find an advert for the course pinned on the noticeboard outside. Taking it as a positive sign, I immediately enrolled. That moment changed my inside, how I handle the trajectory of life… both the ups and the downs. The practices I learned from @Gurudev gave me the resilience to endure setbacks without being consumed by them. Over nearly three decades, His very practical guidance has been my anchor. Even when I can’t personally talk to him, I pick up some knowledge of his or ask myself “How would Gurudev handle this situation?” Invariably, I would get clarity about the right way to respond. This honour would not exist without that turning point in 2001. Deeply grateful, Gurudev. 🙏

Deeply honoured to receive the University of Chicago Alumni Award for Professional Achievement. Dating back to 1941, this alumni honour has recognised at least 14 Nobel laureates, including Paul Samuelson, Herbert Simon, Gary Becker, Myron Scholes, and Claudia Goldin, and leaders and thinkers such as Carl Sagan, James Watson, Philip Kotler and Madeleine Albright. To be included in this lineage is profoundly humbling, especially as it reflects India’s growing intellectual presence on the global stage. This honour belongs not just to me, but to every Indian who believes our country can be a source of global ideas. I remain deeply grateful to @IITKanpur, @IIM_Calcutta, @UChicago @ISBedu for shaping my intellectual journey, Hon’ble PM @narendramodi for the opportunity to serve India, Gurudev @SriSri for his invaluable guidance since my PhD days at @UChicago, to my PhD advisors and mentors, and my parents and family.🙏

His name was Colonel Santosh Babu. He was born in 1983 in Suryapet, Telangana. His father was a bank employee. He studied at Sainik School Korukonda and was commissioned into the 16 Bihar Regiment in 2004. In 2020, he was posted to Eastern Ladakh as Commanding Officer during rising tensions along the Line of Actual Control. On June 15, 2020, he led his men on a patrol to verify that Chinese troops had vacated a disputed area as previously agreed. They had not. What followed was hand to hand combat in complete darkness at 14000 feet with temperatures below zero. No firearms were used. The men fought with stones, iron rods and bare hands. Colonel Santosh Babu was killed that night. He was 37 years old. Twenty Indian soldiers died with him. It was the deadliest clash between India and China in 45 years. He was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India’s second highest wartime gallantry award. He left behind his wife Santoshi, an 11 year old daughter and a 9 year old son. His father told reporters he called before he left and said do not worry. He always said do not worry. Follow for real stories India never makes headlines about.

Q: Gurudev, my name is Megha Sukhi, My question is that I feel like I have reached a point where sadness is my comfort zone and I love overthinking, listening to certain type of songs and being alone. And it feels heavy sometimes. How can I get myself out of that loop? @Gurudev Sri Sri - First of all, let us understand that no one likes to be sad. No one likes it. If we like it, that is why a lot of people tell us, don’t be sad, don’t do this. Attention. When we get attention, we enjoy it. So for that attention, we make it a habit to remain sad. We have to get out of that. It is neither healthy for us nor for others. A few times people will say yes for your emotional need. They will try to convince you. Later people will say, leave him, who will deal with him? He is a cry baby, he is an emotional wreck. I don’t want to deal with him. By doing this, people will get out of the loop. So we need to keep this in mind. Thank you.

In the UAE, success is being redefined not just by productivity, but by mental well-being. From meditation to conscious living, more people are choosing balance over burnout, building clarity, resilience, and a healthier way of living. @Gurudev said: True progress is not measured only by economic growth or technological advancement, but by the quality of human experience.
