The abominable treatment of civilians aboard the flotilla, including that which is documented in footage shared by Itamar Ben-Gvir, is unacceptable. Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs has directed officials to summon the Israeli ambassador to demand assurances regarding the safety and security of Canadians involved. Canada has already imposed strict sanctions on Mr. Ben-Gvir, including asset freezes and a travel ban, in response to his repeated incitement of violence. The protection of civilians and respect for human dignity must be upheld everywhere, at all times.

We’re devastated by the loss of two innocent lives, an elderly couple killed in their own home, in another Iranian cluster missile attack on Israeli civilians in central Israel. May their memories be for a blessing.   Our prayers are also with all those who were injured in the attack.    Iran’s Islamic Regime continues to murder its own citizens and civilians throughout the Middle East. I spoke with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam today. Canada is a long-time partner of Lebanon, and stands in solidarity with its government and people as Lebanon has unwillingly been drawn into the current conflict in the Middle East.   We call for all parties to de-escalate and respect Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity.
