if you actually understand what’s going on here this was honestly a well drawn out play.
Todd knows we don’t really have a spot up shooter we can comfortably rely on. so he draws up action to free Haugh but he just drifts too far inside, it was there😭

I have no idea what Xaivian Lee was thinking here. For a Florida team as well-coached as Todd Golden's group, you would expect a much better play in place to at least get a shot up at the buzzer. You can’t be scared to shoot the ball here.

IMO, this looks like elite play design, just poor execution.
Xaivian Lee has two options: to dump it off or take the shot himself. He saw that he pulled in multiple defenders, giving Thomas Haugh, the guy who should be taking the last shot, a potential open look.
But Haugh drifted a tad bit too far inside. He had a better look to the left of the rim rather than right under.
Again, I don't know if this play was drawn up to prioritize that dump-off pass, but this sort of pass has been a staple in Lee's bag the entire season.
It made sense why Florida was willing to use him as a potential decoy in this last possession, but Iowa shrunk the floor well enough to make that pass extra difficult.
If all unfolds correctly here, it would've looked like brilliance.

This is what we dealt with every year at UK; a few familiar with his system, 5 or so new freshmen, & 1-2 transfers. What he had going into Arkansas wasn’t much different. Just a new place.

If you think Golden is leaving Florida. Or that Florida doesn't care about basketball and that Florida couldn't or wouldn't match UK or anyone else dollar for dollar. I have som beachfront property in Kansas I would like to show you.
Florida has been a better basketball program than Kentucky the past 25 years. That is an institutional issue and one to address. But to act like Florida is just a football school that doesn't care about winning at basketball is certainly a choice.
