Seen half a dozen stories in the last 48 hours about Zack Polanski... Almost no reporting on Nigel Farage's £5m donation 🤔

Disgusting Islamophobic attack as a Muslim woman was run down. Of course this was barely mentioned by the Media and Major Political Parties as they are all on board with this type of hate.

This is a fascinating move by The NYC Mayor’s office on Met Monday. Zohran Mamdani gave an exclusive to Steff Yokta at i-D magazine that spotlights six local fashion industry professionals. The portraits include the likes of Macy’s employees who are also Union organizers.

‘On the basis of that logic, would you ban Tommy Robinson’s rally?’ @Lewis_Goodall pushes the Tories’ Helen Whately for ‘consistency’ as the party calls for a ban on pro-Palestine ‘hate marches’.

Laura Kuenssberg, "Do you agree with Prime Minister that chanting globalise the intifada is racist?" Zack Polanski, "No, I don't think that is correct" "It's important we have freedom of speech and freedom of protest" "We've seen a genocide going on for years in Israel now, in which our Labour government is not just complicit but actually selling arms and intelligence" "I don't believe policing people's language is going to make Jewish safety any better in this country" Laura Kuenssberg, "But that phrase is considered by many Jews and non-Jews to inciting violence, as we were discussing with Labour's Heidi Alexander" Zack Polanski, "First, the occupation is still ongoing, these are people talking about ending the occupation" "Second, there are already laws for hate crimes against antisemitism. When people are committing a hate crime, they should be arrested for that" "I don't think we need to create new laws" "I think we should have freedom to protest in the appropriate way, that is a cornerstone of our democracy" "And that when people are protesting they make sure they are not antisemitic, and that they are very clear that they are protesting the actions of the Israeli government" Laura Kuenssberg, "Zohran Mamdani said he would discourage the use of that phrase, would you?" Zack Polanski, "It's not a phrase that I would use personally, because you can make your point a lot more effectively in other ways" "But the point is that if people are traumatised and they're really passionate about the injustices they're seeing, I don't think the conversation should be about the language people are using" "It should be about the people who are dying" Laura Kuenssberg, "Words matter" Zack Polanski, "Words matter, but the tens of thousands of Palestinians who have been murdered, the people in Lebanon who has been killed, these people matter too" "And if people want to protest that, it's important we defend their right to protest" "I'm not interested in policing people's language"

To make the jump from a mentally ill man attacking 3 people, two Jews and a Muslim, to saying peaceful Pro-Palestinian marches must be banned as a consequence, is totally irrational, bizarre and downright Orwellian. This lunacy from our politicians must be challenged.

Why do I keep seeing commentators and politicians cite the Golders Green stabbings as part of the reasoning to ban Palestine marches? That man was mentally ill and also stabbed a Muslim man first,he didn’t commit an antisemitic terror attack. Do facts no longer matter @bbclaurak?

@PeterMcCormack If your business cannot function while paying living wages, you do not have a viable business…

Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪
A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

The Greens will raise the minimum wage to £15 for all workers 💪
