@hillbillythings I have a scarily similar birth story in 2020. I used to cry at the first mention of it and I could barely breathe in medical settings for over 2 years. We planned to have another child, hired a home birth midwife, started with dual care but stopped going to the clinic visits.

I have such serious PTSD from this nightmare, giving birth to my daughter during the height of the madness. My husband and I were forced to get tested for Covid before they admitted me. I was neglected by nurses, medically raped (forcefully and without consent broke my water) by a doctor who “just didn’t have time for this” and who bragged about me being her 13th c-section that day. She said it was like a “conveyor belt” of c-sections. I was ignored on a bed in the hallway while I slept off the sedatives, my baby thankfully with my husband. I did not get skin-to-skin, even though I had it in my birth plan even if I was passed out. They went against every one of my plans. Then when I finally got into a room, we were forced to stay in it due to “covid rules”. No walking around, which is terrible for recovery. The lactation consultant stood at the door and tried to signal to me how to breastfeed my baby who wouldn’t latch. I hadn’t slept in days. My baby wouldn’t stop crying. It was hell. My first and only birth experience was hell. I now have severe PTSD and health/medical anxiety. It is crippling some days. May the wrath of God be immense.

We just passed the 6th year anniversary since the worldwide Plandemic Began I will never forget how the fake news tried to gaslight the world into believing hospitals were so overwhelmed with death and sickness, that doctors and nurses found time to choreograph dance routines. News flash: we’re going to build entire buildings of stone that are cheaper than steel and concrete. That’s how beauty returns (and venture gets their returns).
Nick Durham@pnickdurham

Last year, we invested in @Monumental_Labs. They use AI and robotics to reduce the cost of stone fabrication by 90%. Construction tech is our game and while I think what they are doing with art and sculpture fab is amazing, the bull case for ML imo was doing building scale construction with stone. Essentially, reviving a dormant material type for type I construction to compete directly with steel and concrete. Before investing, I had to answer a question that's been nagging me for years: exactly when and why did we stop building with natural materials like stone? Where did beauty in our built environment go to die? It's mostly always been an economic story.

@pnickdurham @Monumental_Labs @mspringut This is lovely. We preserve and repurpose what is beautiful - it endures. Everything else is fleeting and meaningless and disposable. Our built environment shapes so much of society, our interactions, even our optimism.

@MaddieVasiliev @mrsdobbins_ Same. I was pregnant February - November 2020 with my first and I was fighting for my life against nausea while everyone else was concerned about the pandemic. I remember throwing up in the restroom at the grocery store and having to put my mask back on.

@mrsdobbins_ I try to be crunchy, but when I’m pregnant all bets are off. It’s full survival mode over here. The only thing I brag about is the fact that I’m so stubborn I refuse to throw up even if I need to 😂

I don’t care if this is bait, but I have NEVER once met a person in the holistic sphere who didn’t have pregnancy nausea and also didn’t think they both directly prevented it and are superior. Never.

@DrCamiloOrtiz You are looking for studies to refute what is mammalian common sense to keep your babies close. What other animal needs to be trained to sleep? You think you’re smarter than hundreds of thousands of years of evolution - how smug.

The idea that sleep training children is damaging is completely unsupported by science, which has found the exact opposite. Sleep training children leads to a cascade of positive outcomes for them and for parents.
The Free Press@TheFP

Psychoanalyst Erica Komisar goes viral for saying day cares are ‘warehouses for children’ and sleep training is ‘damaging.’ In her Manhattan apartment, she tells The Free Press that she doesn’t mind if working moms feel guilty. thefp.com/p/two-drinks-w…

@thecavemommy Have never, would never give my children an ipad or phone at a restaurant. Still need to walk around with them, engage with them, they still sometimes behave like animals. We try to only go to places no one would ever propose marriage 😬 and we clean up and tip well.

Look, I’m not saying you’re a bad parent to give your kid an iPad when you’re out to eat. But if you just push through and don’t give in, avoid nice restaurants for a while and practice at places like Starbucks, Panera, and Cracker Barrel - eventually when they’re 2 1/2, you’ll be able to take him to a coffee shop and fellow patrons won’t be disturbed by his presence when they’re trying to study. You actually will get compliments. He’ll sit in his chair well behaved and eat his snack, having a conversation with you. Then look out the window and watch cars go by for entertainment when you have to nurse the baby. Obviously every kid is different - but just never give them the iPad and see what happens. Once you give it to them, it’s hard to take it back. Kids won’t learn how to behave in public if you don’t just take them in public and practice.

@ClareCraigPath How crazy. I got covid in January 2022 and was fairly sick. Our son was 14 months old at the time and slept in bed with me and my husband. No one “self isolated”, we just carried on. No one else in my household even became ill.

When my fourth child was exactly 2 months old, (a peaceful baby that, from birth, slept deeply and woke at exactly 2 am and 6 am for night feeds) the first and second child brought a stomach bug home from church. They each threw up 3 times, requested dinner, ate it, and went to sleep. At 1 am, I woke up and barely made it to the master bathroom. I spent the next 7 hours evacuating fluids (north and south, regrettably) precisely every 3 minutes; I was drinking water in between just to avoid dry heaving. My stomach cramped up into a hard little ball between each…paroxysm cluster. It hurt so much I was relieved each time the vomiting started again. I lost so much fluid I should have been in the hospital with an IV, but they would have had to purge that ambulance with fire. Anyway, about 2 hours into my living hell, I realized….the baby should have woken up by now. It was definitely well past 2 am. In that moment, I knew beyond a doubt that God was keeping him asleep for me as long as I needed. I understood it as clearly as if He had said it aloud. I gasped my thanks. I couldn’t have nursed him; I had no milk pumped; I had no formula. If he had woken he would have wailed disconsolately and I would have had to listen to it while nearly-dying. (I lost 17 lbs and looked like a perambulating skeleton by morning) I was stuck in that bathroom until 7:15 am. I staggered out and lay on the bed, and was able to keep water down an hour later. He woke a few minutes before 9 am, by which time I was able to nurse him, and he didn’t get the bug. At no other point in his baby life did he ever skip his 2 am and 6 am feedings. Just the once.

Kid asked my husband why we can't hear God when we talk to Him. Darned good thing my husband has "answers" and "experiences" because I'm about to say stuff like, "well kid, let's consider the most parsimonious explanation for an invisible force not talking to you."

@Aesthetic_City Modern architecture doesn't look bad with greenery IMO. In any case, I would rather have architecture that doesn't polarize ppl as it probably would be easier to get locals to back building more.

@Aesthetic_City Can we stop pretending that garish white paint is attractive. You've contrasted 'modern' and non-modern without holding everything else constant. Part of the attraction of the second picture is the earthy colour and the texture.

They told mothers formula was modern and better. They didn't tell them the water could kill their children. In the 1970s, Nestlé ran aggressive formula campaigns across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, handing out free supplies just long enough for breast milk to stop. When the free samples ended, mothers had no choice but to buy more. What Nestlé failed to warn was that formula required clean water, something many communities didn't have. Mothers mixed it with contaminated water or diluted it to make it last. Babies fell sick and died from malnutrition, diarrhea, and disease. All while formula was marketed as scientific and superior, with hospitals and leaders paid to promote it. This wasn't innovation. It was exploitation.

Autism Health Tips
Autism Health Tips@KBr_enthusiast·
I think it's foolish to rely on high-level statistical analysis type of science (which can easily be manipulated) rather than mechanisms and observation. Anyone familiar with medical literature about autism and its etiology, or have any clinical experience, knows it is highly related to immune system abnormalities, inflammatory cytokines, which affect brain development and functioning, and the handling of environmental toxins. Symptoms improve with immune modulation. Symptoms improve with toxin elimination. To think vaccines have nothing to do with autism would have to mean vaccines have nothing to do with the immune system.

If you wanna believe there’s no link to SIDS and vaccines, that’s fine. Some people also believe there’s no link to vaccines and autism. That’s also fine. But I’ve seen a child who has irreversible damage from vaccines. Got the MMR and was never the same boy again. Many moms around him at the church remember him being a normal baby, and at 18 months he completely changed after that shot. Will never use the bathroom on his own, can’t talk, extreme aggression, very sad situation. His mom is a smart woman too. A biochemist. Not just some “conspiracy theorist.” Do you think every parent is lying when they say their kid was never the same again after a vaccine? There baby died of sids 24 hours after vaccines? Are they all just making it up for attention? Do you think parents want to be gaslight by the medical industry or pediatricians that there’s no correlation? Do you think they wanna be scrutinized by everyone cuz they decide not to vaccinate other children they later have, and be told “I hope your kid d*es from polio.”? I promise you no one wants to be an anti vaxxer. We wished vaccines work and had no side effects. It just isn’t the case. You can believe what you want and I will choose to trust what God is telling me and has shown me. I’d rather my kids get the measles than having irreversible damage from MMR vaccine.

@Mcbutter333 @heyekp Also latch them immediately after birth and keep latching them often. Not every 2-3 or 3-4 hours. Like all the time. It feels weird at first, like you should be doing other things, but no. The only thing you should be doing is nursing, resting, being fed/hydrated.

@Mcbutter333 @heyekp I’ve been breastfeeding for nearly 5.5 years continuously between my two children. My breasts have become two different sizes and “heavier” feeling/looking. Does not hurt and both my children have nursed long past getting teeth. Best position is to side-lie in bed.
