@renoomokri Per the comment section, Nigerians and "if" are 5&6. If we had an educated president, if we had Buhari, if we had PO/Atiku, if we had a strict disctator. Why not have incorrupt, non-fraudulent, patriotic, and law abiding citizen 1st?? Aint all these criminals once a citizen??

@larrider @DanielRegha i support privatisation, and i really hope it’s really regulated, and i actually believe abia state government will have what it takes to regulate it, buh monopolies come about even later, if one can successfully undercut his competitors for a period, he wins

Alex Otti says that he wants to remove Abia State from the National Grid completely, "even though it's a PRIVATE enterprise" and many Nigerians are busy cheering him and his idea like this is something truly positive. Are we really a serious people at all? Imagine the entire electricity of a state being owned and controlled by private enterprise(s), doesn't this leave the people at the mercy of the firm? Or you forget that electricity is a basic amenity that should be provided by the govt if we have serious leaders? Has privatizing anything ever benefitted the masses in this country? Take the only working refinery for example, today we are at the mercy of Dangote, he can increase and reduce prices at any time, and we have no choice because we are dependent on that one refinery that is privately owned. If Abia goes fully private, consumers will most definitely pay more, because there's a 99% chance the govt won't step in to regulate in the long run, and of course, it's private so the goal is to make profit whichever way neccesary. Abia State govt gets allocations, but wants to privatize electricity. The problem with many Nigerians is that once someone is put on a pedestal, logical thinking automatically goes off the window.

Bro, I understand your fear and your fear is legitimate. But understand that no one can have a monopoly of any business. You can only have it from the beginning before competition start setting in. Nigeria power sector needs to be privatized if we must have constant power. And yes, its going to be expensive. Not cos they privatized it but cos good things are not free. Trust me, Nigeria will "NEVER" have constant electricity if we are still depending on the government and some people are still paying close to nothing for electricity.

@larrider @DanielRegha i’m not supporting him, but competition drives down cost until it becomes a monopoly lol power is too important a thing to let it fall into the hands of a monopolist not saying that’s what’s happening, just saying

Someone earning $16 will most likely hold two or even 3 jobs, something his Naija counterpart isn't privileged to have. Secondly, those who decide to keep one job will likely qualify for one benefit or the other, a privilege his Naija counterpart doesn't have. If he or she has family, he or she will get a tax return and child credit. Another privilege his Naija counterpart doesn't have access to. In fact, in the US, especially the Midwest where I reside, you can earn as high as $27 working in a factory. I know of an Akwa-Ibom guy here who holds just WAEC. He earns almost $9k in a month. He earns more than me with higher degrees. The only difference is that he works very long hours. Anyone can do the job he is doing.

I live in the US. I just bought fuel 30 minutes ago at a rate of $3.20 per gallon. In the US, gas is sold by the gallon, not by the liter. A gallon contains roughly 4 liters. Meanwhile, most workers in California earn more than $400 per day. This means that even if they buy 10 gallons of fuel in a day, they are still financially comfortable. The fact that most of you compare systems where the minimum wage differs so substantially speaks volumes.
Duru Bond@Bond_not_james

“We are an oil producing country” “If we had more refineries government can afford to pump 1 million liters” 🤡🤡🤡🤡 This is America where the “government is working”, that produces 20million barrels of crude and has over 100 refineries. Their petrol has gone above 3000/liter. And there are a large number of young people who this baba is their “thought leader”

Thats is fact, I agree with you that people that earn "actual" federal minimum wages in the US are like 1%. Reason you didnt see in any of my comment referencing $10. My example was $16 which is same as you mentioned. And its called living wage not minimum wage. And its determined by state not federal. For clarity, what is your point exactly? If i may ask, is someone earning $16/hr doing any better economically than someone earning 100k in Nigeria?? Since 100k is 50% more than the minimum wage just as $16/hr is 50% more than minimum wage in America?? Please factor in taxes and their monthly bills compare to their monthly salary. And you would understand my point. If not, then I rest my case.

I have been seeing your comments on this thread, I deliberately didn't want to go back and forth with you. Almost no one earns minimum wage in the US. In Minnesota, the minimum is $10 per hour, but even cleaners/janitor, Custodian and such jobs earn between 16 and $22. Most of them keep 2 jobs that enable them to earn higher or qualify for one benefit or the other. In a nutshell, they aren't the same. I don't know why some of you act this way.

@engr_funso @peculiarpat1 No I cant. I am not delusional to think that naija is good. I didnt say that in my comment. Naija is tough and in shambles. My point is minimum wagers in America are not better than a minimum wager in Nigeria. They are both suffering economically. If that make sense to you.

I dont argue with stup1d people who dont think outside the box. Obviously you are very okay with your mediocres. Since Obi's name was the only one you picked from all the criminals I mentioned. Keep enjoying your suffering. But for all I know, Obi, Atiku and Tinubu are all criminals and mediocres.

You live in the US, have access to uninterrupted electricity and internet and other resources that should inform you better about Obi. But because you are too dense, you would rather believe what oluwole news agents and their e-rats said. 1diot, every governor who has led Anambra before or after Obi has had issues with the EFCC. Tinubu and his criminal gangs have been chasing people who are allegedly corrupt, since they got to power. Why haven't they done so to Obi? Please, take your exposed stup1dity far away from my comments.

Your post is exactly the post I have been looking for to give a proper response. The problem with many Nigerians is that we have been so battered and impoverished to the extent that traveling aroud even Nigeria or Africa is luxury. If we then talk about outside Africa, it's a huge prayer point and an "I better pass my neighbor" flex. Alex, traveling isn't luxury. It's a basic lifestyle for many people, if not majority, in Europe and America. It is NOT what wealth should provide for you. It is a basic thing that a government should make achievable for you. I do not own up to 1% of Otedeola's wealth but I can travel and live anywhere in the world because of my education. For most Europeans, Americans, Canadians, Chinese, Austrialians, etc they don't need my level of education to do this.
Tech Alex@techalexpr

@DrOaikhena Strange definition of poverty. The freedom to live anywhere on your own terms isn't something to mock. It's exactly what wealth is supposed to buy.

Bro, I am not comparing which is better. My point is that, dont think anyone in America is doing any better except you are high income earner just as high income earners are doing better in naija. Just imagine the scenario I gave you. If you pay 1k of your 1700 on rent alone, tell me what is left to survive with for the month. Electricity, phone bill, transportation. Food alone would take $500 from the remaining $700 for the month.

@truthstandalon1 @peculiarpat1 I should ask you. But on the average, I can tell you for free that someone who earn $16/hr, apprimately $1700/month after tax pays atleast $1000 per month on rent alone for 1 bedroom.

@larrider @davidossai1 @peculiarpat1 The original post emphasized on $400 per day....which is what you replied to. Annual income was never part of the discussion. According to your words, $400 is a 6 figure for someone in California. Admit the wrong statement you made.
