Hey all, thanks for the birthday wishes, really super kind, esp @SenTedCruz for mentioning it. On all the comments, I want to say… there is no effort too large, no pain too high, no process too long that we aren’t willing to do to make roads safer for the world - full stop

@JohnRoss290 To each their own judgment. I always push the team to make products better - results speak loudly. CR has been harsh, but fair - lots of respect for Jake and Gabe, the team @ConsumerReports , they have a hard job. Mine is easy - make safer, better cars for you - always.

@larsmoravy @larsmoravy …AND let’s not forget Consumer Reports is saying this very begrudgingly giving you the crown since they try very hard to lean toward other brands with their “objective” measurements 😂

Fun fact - Tesla is the most reliable EV you can buy according to Consumer Reports - and we continue to improve year over year. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@larsmoravy Cool! This would be a nice feature to add: V2V) Vehicle-to-Vehicle like (V2G) bidirectional technology. Idle Teslas charge other Teslas while on the road…saving time and adding convenience. Millions of people like me, who have not yet bought a Tesla, will buy one.

@anthony_ward Yes, there is a 'Remove Location' pop-up that should come when they autofold in the menu.

@larsmoravy Quick feature request. Can I disable auto fold mirrors at my home location? In the U.K. it was freezing last night and my mirrors wouldn’t unfold until I was ten minutes into my journey. 2020 Model 3. New Model Y arrives next week.

New Model Y receives 5-star rating from Euro NCAP Highlights – Superior scores (vs legacy Model Y) in Vulnerable Road Users (pedestrians, cyclists) & Child Occupant Protection, even under stricter protocols – Improved Safety Assist performance w/ same hardware as Model 3 (tested earlier this year), but better software – Added distraction + microsleep detection – Unique in-cabin radar for direct child presence detection, alerting if a child is accidentally left alone in the rear seat

Not a joke. Mass is serious. I really do care that much. Mass is everything, safety, efficiency, attributes (like NVH), energy, consumption, cost, EVERYthing. If you don’t care about mass you don’t care about your customer. A colleague of mine recent quoted another colleague in a mtg ‘Mass begets mass’ I smiled inside a bit because I knew we had a culture that fights mass with a passion. Hats off to the team that cut all that mass AND made a better and less expensive car. Engineers , factory, and supply chain at work!

VP of Tesla Vehicle Engineering @larsmoravy sat down with Car and Driver and discussed how Tesla was able to engineer 400 pounds out of the new Model X over the years: He jokingly incentivizes engineers with a case of beer for every kilogram saved (a lot of beer was bought for this project lol). • Rear motor switched from induction to permanent-magnet and optimized half-shafts saved ~100 lbs • Battery pack redesign (denser cells, vertical modules, ~300 fewer cells, structural tweaks) saved 90 lbs, though capacity remained unchanged. • Interior included new upgraded parts, new manufacturing processes, airbag integration into headliner fabric, and new seat configurations added an extra 80 lbs of savings. • High-voltage wiring optimization, and switch from copper to aluminum saved 44 lbs. • New simplified cooling system saved 30 pounds. • Larger front/rear megacastings (8 pieces to 4): >20 lb saved and 10% higher torsional stiffness. • New Lithium-ion 12-V battery saved 14 lbs. • Front/rear suspension tweaks saved 10 lbs. • Thinner plastic fascias saved 10 lbs. • New cast refrigerant manifold saved 3lbs.

I realize it may be a long shot with no notice, but @larsmoravy I would be honored if I could “bump into you” this morning/afternoon to sign the most bad a** American truck on the road today. Y’all did the impossible and id love to immortalize it on my truck!

Fun fact about the Standard Model Y closed glass roof. A Tesla engineer told us that the glass is opaque, so even if you removed the textile lining on the inside, you would not see the outside. 😔 More details to come on our first drive video this Friday.

Es ist das Schwierigste auf der Welt, das Richtige zu tun. Wir tun es, weil wir es können, und wenn du es kannst – insbesondere mit Sicherheit – tust du es einfach, egal wie schwer es ist. I just spent the week in Germany with all the wonderful teams we have there. Hopefully my broken German gets the point across.

Nie wieder was anderes! Zum Schutz meiner geliebten Familie! Danke @Tesla, danke @elonmusk, @larsmoravy, @woodhaus2 and all of your Teams and collegues!

Beeindruckend!

NEWS: Electrek’s report about there being further Tesla Semi delays is not true, according to the head of Tesla’s Semi truck program, Dan Priestley. “No change to schedule. And multiple incorrect conclusions.”
