As a kid growing up in Northern Ireland, I dreamed of winning all four majors. Being able to bring these trophies home was truly surreal.

@London_W4 I recommend a book by Christopher Buckley, Steaming to Bamboola, about his time on a tramp steamer. He’s very witty. Cheers.

Sunday afternoon reading. A pub in Hamble le Rice, a glass of wine and Joshua Slocum’s Sailing Alone Around the World. The correct way to spend time.

Dinner is served. Behold the healthiness in tonight’s meal on board that I’ve just cooked. Prawns, courgette, peppers, mushrooms, chillies and a sweet and sour sauce, with a random collection of noodles as I’m using up the last of different packets. I’ve realised my bowl makes it look like the food is dripping down the sides. I promise it isn’t and that’s the pattern on the bowl. Also, I keep forgetting to buy a table mat, so excuse the kitchen roll standing in for a mat. Anyway, it tastes most pleasant, if I do say so myself. Cheers 🥂

We were debating this last night... as a golf fan, what would be the coolest thing to happen? 1. Jordan Spieth comeback Masters win 2. An amateur wins the US Open 3. Walk-off, hole-out eagle to win a major

Did you know the Duke of Wellington lived long enough to be photographed? This image, taken in 1844, captures Arthur Wellesley, the hero of Waterloo, in one of the earliest photographs ever taken.

Mornin’. Sat at home on my boat watching the beautiful sunlight pouring in through the steam from my hot mackerel breakfast. It’s the perfect start to the day.

Sunrise through the woods. I really don’t know why I don’t get up stupidly early every day to stand and watch the sunrise. It’s a waste of a day to miss this.

@SimoninSuffolk It’s such a wonderful sculpture—full of movement and likeness, but very modern.

The politician Harold Wilson was born in Huddersfield #OTD 11 March 1916. His statue in the town's St George's Square, photographed a few weeks ago. He hurries from the railway station reaching in his pocket for his familiar pipe, although he prefered to smoke cigars in private.
