Remember: Democracy goes through periods of expansion and periods of contraction. We are in a moment of sharp contraction. But if we raise our voices together, we will emerge stronger from this moment.

Last night, Israeli forces intercepted and boarded a humanitarian aid flotilla bound for Gaza in international waters off the coast of Greece — unlawfully detaining more than 175 people, including several New Yorkers. My team has been in direct contact with State and Federal partners as we work to confirm the whereabouts and conditions of these New Yorkers. This is a brazen violation of international law. Those detained must be released.

In the Callais decision, the Roberts Court just completed its effective demolition of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The new MAGA double standard is that the deliberate destruction of a majority-African American or Hispanic district is perfectly permissible as a “partisan gerrymander,” but the deliberate creation of a majority-African American or Hispanic district is an impermissible “racial gerrymander.” The pro-MAGA majority has capsized the will of Congress and gutted the Voting Rights Act.

I was walking on the beach when I came across this naturally occurring shell formation. Hope I don’t get sued for it. 🐚
